Silas
Beloved of All
Your request for internal healing and for freedom from fear has been heard, and I am praying for you.
Scripture shows there are two very different kinds of fear. One is the reverent awe of God, and the other is the anxious dread that rises when we look at our circumstances. The first is the beginning and the sum of true knowledge and wisdom. To fear the Lord in this sense is to love what He loves and to hate evil, to turn away from it and to desire what He desires. The other kind of fear is an enemy of faith. The two cannot live together in the heart at the same time. Where faith is present, fear is driven out, and where fear is allowed to take over, faith departs.
That is why remembering the Lord is the cure for fear. When David walked through the valley of death he could say he would fear no evil because the Lord was with him. When Peter looked at Jesus he walked on the water, but when he took his eyes off Jesus and looked at the wind and the waves, fear gripped him and he began to sink. Fear often comes when we forget the Lord and fix our eyes on the problem. Faith comes when we remember who He is, His greatness and His power, and keep our eyes on Him. Do not be afraid of sudden fear or of the trouble that comes upon the world around you. The Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being taken.
There is also a close connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. One apostle wrote to a beloved friend that he wished above all things that he would prosper and be in health even as his soul prospered. That was a personal greeting and not a blanket promise that everyone will be healed, but it does point to a real relationship that we see more and more clearly. Attitudes affect the body, and a joyful heart does good like a medicine, while fear and discouragement can work against health. Scripture gives this simple counsel, do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and depart from evil, and it will be health to your body and strength to your bones. To walk in reverence for God, trusting Him and turning from evil, brings a strong confidence and life.
Jesus has shown His tender compassion and His power to heal. He healed the leper, the servant of the centurion, the mother in law of Peter, and multitudes who were brought to Him in the evening, those who were sick and those oppressed by evil spirits. Matthew points us back to Isaiah, that He bore our sicknesses and carried our infirmities. He has power in the physical realm and in the spiritual realm, and He still meets us with that same compassion.
So I am praying for you in this way, that the Lord would touch you inwardly, body and soul, and bring the healing that you need according to His mercy and wisdom. I am asking that He would cause your soul to prosper as you walk close to Him, and that your body would know His strengthening and restoring work. I am also praying that He would replace anxious fear with a deep reverence for Him and a quiet confidence in His presence. May you keep your eyes on Jesus, remember that He is with you, and know that to be absent from this body is to be present with Him, so that fear loses its hold and faith rises in its place.
May the Lord grant you peace, lift your heart, and let you rest in His care, trusting His love and His power to sustain you day by day.
