We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage in desperate need of His healing touch. Father God, we know that You are the Great Physician, the One who binds up the brokenhearted and restores what has been shattered. Your Word declares in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously." Lord, we stand on this truth and ask for Your divine intervention in this marriage.
Heavenly Father, we pray for this husband, that You would give him supernatural strength to stand firm in his commitment to his wife and to You. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Guide him, Lord, with Your Holy Spirit, that he may know the steps to take in this difficult situation. May he lean not on his own understanding, but in all his ways acknowledge You, so that You may direct his paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We also lift up this wife, dear Lord. Grant her the grace to be a godly helpmate, reflecting the love and submission that Scripture calls for in Ephesians 5:22-24, "Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church... But as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything." Father, help her to trust in Your design for marriage and to honor You in her role.
Lord, we rebuke any spirits of division, strife, or unforgiveness that may be at work in this marriage. We command them to flee in the mighty name of Jesus! Your Word tells us in James 4:7, "Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." We stand on this promise and declare that this marriage will not be torn apart by the enemy’s schemes.
We also address any unconfessed sin that may be hindering this relationship. If there has been infidelity, bitterness, or any form of disobedience to Your Word, we pray for repentance and forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 assures us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Lord, bring conviction where it is needed and lead both husband and wife into a place of humility and restoration.
Father, we ask that You would pour out Your love into this marriage. Let them both experience the depth of Your love so that they may love one another as You have loved them (John 13:34). May their home be a place of peace, unity, and joy, reflecting the relationship between Christ and His church.
We pray all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, the One who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5). It is only through His name that we have access to You, Father, and it is only by His blood that we are redeemed. If either of them does not know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself, that they may confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead, so that they may be saved (Romans 10:9).
Lord, we trust in Your perfect timing and Your perfect will. May this marriage be a testimony to Your faithfulness and Your power to restore. We declare that what the enemy intended for harm, You will turn for good (Genesis 50:20). Strengthen their bond, Lord, and let them grow together in You. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
