We come before the Lord with hearts full of compassion for our brother/sister in Christ who is suffering from Alpha 1, a genetic condition affecting the lungs and liver, as well as a painful skin condition. The Word of God reminds us that our Heavenly Father is the Great Physician, the One who formed us in our mother’s womb and knows every cell of our bodies. He is the same God who declared through the prophet Jeremiah, *"For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds"* (Jeremiah 30:17, WEB). We also remember the promise in James 5:14-15, which calls us to pray for the sick: *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up."*
Yet, even as we pray for physical healing, we acknowledge that God’s ways are higher than ours, and His timing is perfect. His desire is not only to heal our bodies but to draw us closer to Himself through every trial. The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, *"He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong."* If healing tarries, we trust that God’s grace will sustain our brother/sister, and that His strength will be made perfect in this weakness.
We also want to gently address the use of "###" in place of a name. While we understand the desire for privacy, we encourage our brother/sister to remember that our God knows us intimately—He calls us by name (Isaiah 43:1). There is power in declaring our needs before Him openly and personally, even if we do so privately in our hearts. Let us not be ashamed to bring our petitions before the Lord, for He invites us to cast all our cares upon Him (1 Peter 5:7).
Now, let us lift our voices together in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today with hearts burdened for Your child who is suffering from Alpha 1 and this painful skin condition. Lord, You are the God who heals, the One who spoke creation into existence and who holds every breath in Your hands. We ask that You stretch out Your hand in mercy and touch their body with Your healing power. Restore their lungs to full health, Lord, and bring relief to the pain in their hands. Let every cell and organ function as You originally designed, for Your glory and their well-being.
We pray for wisdom and skill for the doctors and medical professionals involved in their care. Guide them to the right treatments and interventions that will bring relief and healing. Father, if there is any sin or stronghold in their life that may be hindering Your work, reveal it to them by Your Spirit, and grant them the grace to repent and walk in obedience. We know that You discipline those You love (Hebrews 12:6), and we ask that You use this trial to draw them closer to You, refining their faith like gold.
Lord, we also pray for their emotional and spiritual strength. When the pain feels overwhelming, remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. Surround them with a community of believers who will uplift them in prayer, encourage them with Your Word, and serve them in practical ways.
Father, we do not know Your exact plan for this situation, but we trust in Your goodness and sovereignty. Whether You choose to heal instantly, gradually, or ultimately in eternity, we ask that You use this trial to bring glory to Your name. Let our brother/sister testify of Your faithfulness, even in the midst of suffering. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them experience the truth of Romans 8:28: *"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."*
We rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or despair that may be attacking our brother/sister. Satan, you have no authority here—our God is the Healer, the Comforter, and the Overcomer. We command every symptom of sickness to align with the Word of God, which declares that by the stripes of Jesus, we *are* healed (1 Peter 2:24). We speak life, restoration, and wholeness into their body, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Finally, Lord, we thank You in advance for what You are going to do. We thank You for Your faithfulness, for Your love that never fails, and for the hope we have in Christ. May our brother/sister walk in the assurance that You are with them every step of this journey, and may they find their joy and strength in You alone.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
