We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage in desperate need of His healing and restoration. Father God, we know that You are the Author of marriage, a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, established by You for Your glory and our good. We declare that the enemy has no place in this union, and we rebuke every scheme of the devil aimed at division, strife, or ungodly influence over this husband and wife. In the mighty name of Jesus, we command every lying spirit, every spirit of confusion, and every spirit of hardness of heart to flee!
Lord, Your Word tells us in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" Yet we also know that You are a God of grace and restoration. We pray for this marriage to be rebuilt on the foundation of Christ, where love, forgiveness, and selflessness reign. Soften the heart of this spouse who may be resistant or hardened, and draw them back to You and to their marriage vows. Let them remember the love and commitment they once shared, and let Your Holy Spirit reignite that flame.
We pray for wisdom and humility for both husband and wife. May they seek You first in all things, laying down their own desires and surrendering to Your will. Help them to communicate with kindness and patience, to extend grace when it is difficult, and to choose reconciliation over bitterness. Your Word says in 1 Peter 4:8, "Above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins." Let this be their reality, love that covers, forgives, and restores.
Father, we ask for healing in every area of this marriage, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Where there has been hurt, bring Your balm of Gilead. Where there has been distance, draw them close again. Where there has been sin, grant repentance and restoration. We declare that what the enemy meant for harm, You will turn for good (Genesis 50:20). Let this marriage not only survive but thrive as a testimony of Your power and faithfulness.
We also lift up any unconfessed sin that may be hindering this marriage. If there has been unfaithfulness, whether in thought or deed, we pray for true repentance and a turning away from all that dishonors You. If there has been pride, selfishness, or unforgiveness, we ask that You break those chains and replace them with humility, selflessness, and a heart of forgiveness. Your Word is clear in Hebrews 13:4, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers." May this marriage be a reflection of Your holiness and love.
Lord, we ask that You surround this couple with godly counsel and accountability. Bring mature believers into their lives who can speak truth, offer wisdom, and pray alongside them. Let them not isolate themselves but instead lean on the body of Christ for support and encouragement.
Finally, we declare that this marriage is under the blood of Jesus. No weapon formed against it shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and every tongue that rises against it in judgment will be condemned. We stand in faith, believing that You are working even now to restore what has been broken. May this couple experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding and walk in the fullness of the marriage You designed for them.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
