prayer for ### for health and place to live

Anonymous

Beloved of All
My friend has a serious illness that is getting worse, and needs a supportive place to live and a job he can do, or else he will have to go to a shelter. Please pray for him.

We lift up your friend before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of his struggles with illness and the pressing needs for shelter and provision. Our Heavenly Father sees his pain and hears the cries of those who intercede on his behalf. We stand in the gap for him, trusting in the Lord’s mercy and power to intervene.

The Word of God reminds us in Psalm 34:18-19, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." Even in this valley, the Lord is near, and He is able to sustain and provide. We also hold fast to Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." This is not just a promise for some, but for all who trust in Him.

Father, we ask You to touch our brother’s body with Your healing hand. Whether through medical intervention, divine restoration, or the strength to endure, let Your will be done in his life. We pray for a place of refuge for him, a home where he is surrounded by compassion, support, and dignity. Open doors that no man can shut, Lord, and lead him to a dwelling where he can find rest and stability. Provide him with work that aligns with his abilities, a means to sustain himself with honor, and the grace to persevere through each day.

We also lift up his spirit, Father. Illness and uncertainty can weigh heavily on the soul, but You are the God who gives hope in the midst of despair. Remind him of Your faithfulness, even when circumstances feel overwhelming. Surround him with believers who will encourage him, pray for him, and walk alongside him in this season.

Lord, if there is any unconfessed sin or unforgiveness in his heart, we ask that You bring it to light and grant him the grace to repent and release it. Your Word tells us in James 5:16, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." Let this truth manifest in his life, that he may experience the fullness of Your healing, body, mind, and soul.

We rebuke the spirit of fear, hopelessness, and despair that may be trying to take hold of him. In the name of Jesus, we declare that he is not abandoned, not forgotten, and not without hope. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that he might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We stand against every lie that tells him his situation is hopeless, for with You, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

If your friend does not yet know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, we pray that this season of struggle would draw him to the foot of the cross. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. We pray that he would surrender his life to Christ, receive the gift of salvation, and experience the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we trust You to move mightily in this situation. Give us faith to believe for miracles, wisdom to know how to support him, and compassion to love him as You do. May Your name be glorified in his life, and may he come to know You more deeply through this trial. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Healer, Provider, and Redeemer. Amen.

It’s heavy to watch someone you care about face a serious illness that keeps getting worse, while also worrying about where he’ll live and how he’ll support himself. The kind of friendship you’re offering, praying and seeking help on his behalf, matters more than you may realize. So often, people in his situation feel invisible and forgotten, and you are choosing to stay close.

When an illness drags on, a person’s whole sense of safety can unravel. The source pack mentions how chronic illness often brings a feeling of fragility and vulnerability. Your friend may feel like the ground is moving under him. He may need someone to help him think through things without pressure. If you haven’t already, you might sit with him (or talk by phone) and simply help him list out his immediate next steps: Has he been seen by a doctor recently? Are there any local church benevolence ministries, Christian housing nonprofits, or government programs he can contact? Sometimes just offering to be in the room while he makes those calls can lift a huge weight. We’ve seen how small, steady presence can do more than grand solutions.

We also know that the need for a supportive environment and a job that accommodates his health limits can feel overwhelming. Many churches have deacons or care teams that know the local resources, they might help with transitional housing, temporary work, or even a network of people who can open a room. You could also encourage him to reach out to vocational rehabilitation services if his illness limits his ability to work; they exist to help people in exactly this kind of bind.

Most importantly, keep reminding him that he is not a burden. God sees his body, his finances, and his fears. We’re praying with you for that to become tangible.

Let’s pray.

Lord Jesus, you know the pain and exhaustion our friend is carrying. Please bring healing to his body and wisdom to those treating him. Open a door for a safe, supportive place to live, a place where he can rest and rebuild. And provide work that he can do without making his health worse, work that gives him dignity and provision. Give our friend who is praying the strength to keep showing up, and fill with your peace that passes understanding. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The news about your friend has been weighing on you; I can feel it in the few lines you wrote. A serious illness that tightens its grip, the need for a door to open both for work and a roof, these are deep waters, and you are watching someone you love being carried toward the breakers. It is no small thing to stand on the shore and feel so helpless. Yet I want you to remember that the Lord has a special tenderness for those who are tossed on the sea of trouble. He does not merely shout directions from the safety of the land; He walks the waves, and His feet know the cold swell of our anxieties. For your friend, right now, the timbers are creaking and the storm is loud, but the helm is not unattended. The same God who holds the ocean in the hollow of His hand has His eye upon that one dear life, and He can make a calm provision where no calm seems possible.

I would not have you think of God’s care as a distant, official sort of watchfulness. The Scripture gives us a far warmer picture: He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you may trust. It is the image of a mother bird who does not merely shield her young from the hawk overhead but draws them close so that they feel the very warmth of her own heart. Your friend’s sickness may be advancing, but it is not advancing beyond the reach of those feathers. A shelter bed may loom in the mind as the only outcome, but the Lord’s wing can spread a roof we have not yet seen. I am not speaking of a dreamy hope that ignores the facts; I am speaking of the fact that heaven and earth are in the hands of the Man who loved us and gave Himself for us. He who fed the multitude with a boy’s lunch can certainly open a door for one weary soul. And if the provision tarries, He Himself will be the sanctuary. There are saints who have found that a bare room with Christ in it is a palace, and a sickbed with His presence is a foretaste of the rest that remains.

I know the illness itself weighs on you as much as the housing. You see your friend weakening, and your heart asks what the end will be. Here is a deep truth for you: the health Christ gives is not a thin, bodily thing only. Our frames are tents that must come down, but the soul, the spirit, these He makes sound in a way that no medicine can touch. He is the health of our countenance, our God. Even now, while the outer man decays, the inner man can be renewed day by day. Do not measure His love by the temperature on the thermometer or the scan results. Measure it by the cross, where every sin that stood between us and God was blotted out like a morning mist before the sun. Your friend may not be able to work as before, but the Lord’s strength is made perfect in weakness. And if it comes to it, there is a dignity in dependence on the Father that the world’s self-sufficiency knows nothing of.

In the meantime, do you know what I see in your request? I see a friend who is carrying a burden in prayer, and that is no small service. You are doing for your friend what the four men did for the paralytic, bringing him to Jesus when he could not get there himself. Your faith is part of the story. So do not let the enemy whisper that your prayers are too small or too late. The Lord’s ear is not heavy that it cannot hear, nor His arm short that it cannot save. He has blotted out thick clouds of transgression; do you think a cloud of trouble is too thick for Him to pierce? He is the God who makes a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters. For your friend, He can make a path to provision, to shelter, to a supportive place, and if not, He will be the provision and the shelter Himself, until that day when we need no roof but His presence and no health but His glorified life in us.

Let me pray with you now.

O Lord, You are the hearer of prayer, and to You all flesh comes. We bring before You this one who is ill and in need, whose strength ebbs and whose future seems so uncertain. You know the address where he will sleep tonight and tomorrow night; You know the work his hands can yet do. We ask not for ease alone, but for Your will, which is always love. Be his dwelling place, a refuge from the storm. Raise up human hands to help, and let him know that he is not forgotten. And as for this dear soul who prays, steady that heart. Give the peace that passes understanding. Commend them both to Your fatherly care, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with the privilege of lifting your friend before the Lord in prayer. It has been on our hearts to continue standing in agreement with you for his healing, provision, and a safe, supportive place to live. We have prayed earnestly that God would move mightily in his situation, restoring his health, opening doors for meaningful work, and surrounding him with care so he does not have to face a shelter.

If God has answered these prayers in any way—whether through improved health, a job opportunity, or a place to stay—we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the answer hasn’t come yet, or if his needs have changed, please know we are still here to intercede. You are welcome to post this request again, and we will continue to bring it before the Lord with fresh faith and expectancy.

May the Father strengthen you both as you trust in Him. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, believing He is able to do immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine.
