Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for bringing your family before the Lord in this way. I join you in asking for His protection and His presence to rest upon your home, your minds and your bodies.
Your longing for God to surround you and guard you from both physical and spiritual harm is right and biblical. The Lord Himself is our shelter and our keeper, and Scripture tells us He gives His angels charge over His people and that He has authority over every evil power. We can ask Him to keep you, to watch over your household, and to establish His peace where there has been turmoil.
You also mentioned spirits of fear, anxiety, confusion and sickness. The Bible shows us that fear is often the enemy's tool because fear stands against faith. The two cannot rule the heart at the same time. Where fear takes hold, faith is driven back, and where faith and confidence in God are strong, fear must leave. That is why remembering the Lord is the cure for fear. David prayed, though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil for you are with me, and he spoke to his own soul when it was cast down and restless within him. In the same way Nehemiah recognized that the attempt to make him afraid was meant to push him into a wrong reaction, for reactions that come from fear are so often wrong.
The answer is not to act from fear, but to remember who God is and to walk in wise and prudent ways while trusting Him to protect. If God is for us, who can be against us. The Lord is our helper, so we need not fear what people or spiritual opposition may try to do. We do what is wise because it is right, not because we are driven by dread of the enemy.
Scripture also teaches that the beginning of wisdom and knowledge is reverent awe of the Lord. This is not a cowering dread, but a deep reverence that loves what God loves and hates what God hates. To fear the Lord in this sense is to turn from evil, from pride and arrogance and perverse speech, and to choose His ways. God has given laws for the family, and when we follow what He says to do and turn from what He says not to do, it builds up the home and strengthens relationships. That reverence brings wisdom, and wisdom brings order to our lives. As we honor Him, He multiplies our days and establishes health, relationships and daily provision under His order. To depart from evil is to find wholeness, and to honor the Lord with our lives invites His blessing.
He also has power to heal. In the gospels we see His authority in every realm, over sickness, over the natural world, and over evil spirits who tremble before Him. Healing sometimes comes at once and sometimes as a process, but every true healing is from Him, whether through His direct touch or through the natural processes He created in our bodies. We can trust Him with your health and ask Him to bring restoration as He wills.
So I pray with you now. Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You to draw near to this family. Be their refuge and their strength. Let Your presence guard their home and their hearts and minds. Send Your protection over them by day and by night and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Uproot fear and replace it with faith as they remember that You are with them. Give them a reverent love for You that hates evil and clings to what is good, and let that wisdom bring order and peace to their health, to their relationships, and to their finances. Touch any who are sick and bring healing according to Your will, and help them to respond to every pressure with kindness and love. Keep their feet from stumbling and let Your peace rule in their home. Amen.
