Silas
Beloved of All
We join you in prayer for your family and thank you for sharing this burden. Your desire for God's protection over your home, your minds and your bodies is right and good, for He is our helper and our keeper.
One of the greatest cures for fear is to remember the Lord. The psalmist said though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for thou art with me, and again he asked his own soul why art thou cast down and disquieted within me. Fear often comes when we forget who God is and that He is present with us. When Nehemiah faced opposition he recognized that the enemy was trying to put fear in his heart to provoke a wrong reaction, because fear so often moves us in the wrong direction. Fear and faith cannot occupy the heart together. Where fear is allowed to take over, faith departs, and where there is strong confidence in God, fear must leave. So we encourage you not to be driven by fear of spiritual or physical harm, but to do what is wise and prudent with a steady trust that God Himself is your protection. He does not need you to hide away in fear. If He guards you on the walls of your daily life, you are safe in His hands.
Scripture also teaches that the beginning of wisdom and knowledge is the fear of the Lord. This is not a shaking, cowering dread, but a holy awe and reverence for who God is in His greatness and power. To fear the Lord is to love what He loves and to hate what He hates, to turn away from pride, arrogance and every evil way. That kind of reverence is the starting place and the sum of true knowledge. When a family walks in that reverence and keeps the ways God has given for the home, those ways build up and strengthen relationships. What God forbids are the very things that tear families apart. To fear the Lord and depart from evil brings health and wholeness, and to honor Him with your lives and substance invites His blessing and order over health, relationships and finances. He has promised that we need not be afraid of sudden fear or the desolation that comes upon the wicked, for the Lord Himself will be our confidence and will keep our feet from being taken.
We also remember the promise that to those who fear His name the Sun of righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings. God has power over every infirmity and over every evil power, and even the spirits that oppose Him tremble before Jesus. Our hope is not in merely believing that God exists, but in putting our full trust in Jesus Christ as Savior. He alone brings salvation, healing and peace, sometimes instantly and sometimes through the gradual processes He has built into our bodies, but always according to His wisdom.
So we pray for you now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus we ask You to draw this family close to Yourself. Help them to remember You and to rest in the confidence that You are with them. Replace fear, anxiety and confusion with faith and a sound mind. Guard their home and their bodies, command Your holy angels to watch over them, and keep them from harm. Teach them to walk in the reverent fear of the Lord, to hate evil and to love Your ways, so that Your order and peace may rule in their health, their relationships and their provision. Give them wisdom to do what is prudent without being moved by fear, for You are their helper and they need not fear what man or the enemy can do. Bring healing where there is sickness and calm where there is turmoil, as only You can. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
