Please lift my family up in prayer. I am incredibly weary from the ongoing strife caused by my non-Christian in-laws, specifically my sister-in-law. She frequently sends abusive messages to my husband and spreads division through lies to other. I am asking God to open up other people to the lies she's spreading. We desperately need divine intervention. Despite this trial, God is working: my husband has recently turned to Christ, is reading Scripture, and is seeking a relationship with God. Please pray for protection over his new faith and for peace in our family. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

We hear your heart, dear sister, and we stand with you in fervent prayer before the throne of grace. The weariness you carry from this strife is not unseen by our Heavenly Father, who promises in His Word, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). We lift your family to Him, asking for His divine intervention to expose the lies and division being sown by your sister-in-law. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life abundantly (John 10:10). We rebuke the spirit of strife and deception in the mighty name of Jesus and declare that the truth of God’s Word will prevail in this situation.

We rejoice with you over your husband’s decision to turn to Christ! This is a miracle of grace, and we pray fervently for the protection of his newfound faith. The enemy will not sit idly by, but we declare that "no weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment" (Isaiah 54:17). We ask the Lord to surround him with godly mentors, strengthen his resolve, and deepen his understanding of Scripture. May his faith be unshakable, rooted in the truth that "he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6).

For your marriage, we pray for unity and peace. The trials you face are opportunities for God to refine your faith and draw you closer to Him and to one another. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God" (Matthew 5:9). We ask the Lord to guard your hearts from bitterness and resentment, reminding you both that "love covers a multitude of sins" (1 Peter 4:8). May your home be a sanctuary of worship, where the presence of God dwells and His peace reigns.

Father God, we come before You with hearts heavy for our sister and her family. We ask that You would soften the heart of her sister-in-law, that she may see the error of her ways and turn from her deceit. Expose the lies she has spread, Lord, and let Your light shine in the darkness. Protect this family from further harm, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Strengthen their faith, deepen their trust in You, and let them experience Your faithfulness in tangible ways. We declare that this family is covered by the blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against them shall prosper. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We hear how wearying this has been, the steady drip of cutting words and deceit can wear down even a strong spirit, and you’ve been bearing this for a long time. That kind of verbal attack, when it keeps coming from someone close to the family, has a way of isolating and exhausting you, and we want you to know you’re not carrying it alone. The fact that your husband has turned to Christ in the middle of this trial is genuinely a bright, hope-filled work of God. His new faith is tender and real, and it makes sense that you’re aching to protect it.

While you pray for God to expose what’s false, we’d also gently encourage you to think about what outward protections you can put in place right now. Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is to limit direct access, blocking messages, taking a season of low contact, or deciding together as a couple what communication is healthy and what simply invites more wounding. That’s not unkind; it’s stewarding your husband’s new faith and your own God-given peace. And if your church has a wise leader or a small group of mature believers, letting them in on what you’re facing can be a lifeline. You don’t need to manage the lies and strife on your own.

We also want to gently point out that when words keep cutting and dividing, stepping back isn’t weakness, it’s sometimes the most honest way to refuse to be a punching bag while still leaving the door open for truth and, down the road, real reconciliation. You can’t control what she says, but you can guard what enters your home and your hearts.

As you go through this, please know we’re standing with you.

Jesus, you see the weight this sister has been carrying, the exhaustion from constant strife, and you see her husband’s fresh, growing faith. Cover him. Protect that new life in him as he reads Scripture and seeks you. Bring truth into the light where lies have spread, and give this couple wisdom to set boundaries that are firm and loving. Let your peace, the kind that doesn’t make sense, settle over their home and their hearts. In your strong name we ask it, Amen.

The trial you endure is heavy, yet the Lord does not afflict without purpose. The dry tree by divine grace shall flourish; the green tree, deserted by the dew of heaven, shall dry up. The low tree, fostered by the Husbandman, shall mount even to the stars; the high tree, cut down by the axe of judgment, shall lie outstretched. You are brought low by this weary strife, but that is no evil sign, remember Joseph in the dungeon, Hannah in the family of Elkanah, David when Samuel would have passed him by. The Lord exalts the low tree, and He will lift you up in due season. Your sister-in-law’s lying tongue and abusive messages spring from that arrogance of mind which dreams its way is higher than God’s. Her name is Pride, and she has made a refuge of lies, but such refuges must be swept away before the true shelter of divine grace is sought. Pray for her, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, yet we bless those who curse us.

What a mercy that your husband has turned to Christ! That is no small thing. Even if his faith be little, it is faith; the Lord rebuked Peter for doubting, yet smiled upon him because it was faith. Faith is not a weed to grow on every dunghill without care or culture, it is a plant of heavenly growth and requires divine watching and watering. So pray without ceasing for the increase of his faith. The mercy of God lies at the foundation of our faith, and it wonderfully helps us to forgive. The shield of faith, fixed in the Person of Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever, must be taken up by him and by you. Bear the blows with that shield; it must be cut at, but it will not fail if it is of heaven’s forging. A feeble faith can receive a mighty Savior, even as a beggar with a palsied hand can receive a golden gift. Let him be of good courage: he has embarked on the right vessel, and though he be sick on board, the ship is safe.

In the midst of this dark world of sin and thronging duties, there is a peace that passes understanding. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within. You are not called to a false peace that ignores the Truth of God, but to that true peace which is the heritage of all believing ones, being justified by faith. When the lying words fly, retreat into that peace by keeping your mind stayed on Him. The Lord will bless His people with peace, whatever shall befall.

I do lift you before the throne of grace. May the Lord water that dry tree and make it flourish, protect your husband’s tender faith as the apple of His eye, confound the devices of the wicked, and grant you and your household the peace of God which passeth all understanding, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Do not let this storm overwhelm your soul. The harder the conflict presses, the nearer the deliverance. Often, when the righteous are on the threshold of victory, God permits the trial to redouble its heat, just as He did with Abraham when He asked for his son. So take heart: your husband’s newborn faith is a sign that God has already begun a mighty work, and the enemy rages precisely because he sees a trophy being torn from his grasp. The faith by which we are justified is older and mightier than any strife, and it alone establishes the household in peace.

Consider that the sister-in-law’s lies and abuse, bitter as they are, cannot touch the treasure you and your husband are storing in heaven. This conflict has its root in the earth: envy, vainglory, the craving to wound. She thinks she injures you, but truly she injures only herself. Whenever a man plots against his neighbor, the wound first destroys the one who gives it. So do not return malice for malice. Instead, cut off the root of anxiety by despising the loss of earthly reputation, and cling only to the honor that comes from God.

Your husband’s turning to Scripture is a Passover for your household. By faith he has taken the blood upon the doorposts of his heart, and the destroyer will not touch what God has sealed. This same faith, which once saved a harlot and her whole family when she received the spies in peace, now works to save your home. Let him not be troubled that the Law of good conduct cannot tame his sister; the Law labored to make us righteous but lacked the power. It is faith in Christ that fulfills what the Law desired, and so your husband, though a newcomer, stands on the firmest ground. God will establish him.

Pray then for that peace which is inseparable from love and faith. A peace that is toward God, not merely the absence of strife; a love that is guarded and bounded by faith, lest it mingle carelessly with unbelief. You need not break communion with her, but you must not let her unbelief infect the household’s confidence in Christ. Trust that the Spirit who warned the prophets will also open the eyes of those she deceives, or else render her lies powerless. Your weariness is a sacrifice God accepts. In due season you will see that these very thorns were the soil in which your husband’s faith grew strong. I will join my prayers to yours, that the God of peace who brought up our Lord from the dead will protect his sheep, silence the deceiver’s tongue, and fill your home with the unshakable joy of those who know their inheritance is kept in heaven.
