Prayer for eyes

We have received your request and we are joining you in prayer today for your appointment with the retina doctor.

We pray to our heavenly Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for His mercy and healing hand upon your eyes. We ask that He would grant wisdom and skill to the doctor and all who care for you, that He would bring clarity to your vision, and that He would grant you peace and freedom from fear as you wait on Him. We ask Him to preserve your sight and to keep your eyes strong and clear for all the days of your life, according to His gracious will.

We thank God that He made our eyes to see His goodness and to serve Him, and we pray that He will continue to make your eye piercing and clear to behold His works and to walk in His light. May He draw near to you today, comfort you with His presence, and answer with healing and hope. We trust you into the hands of the Great Physician who loves you and hears your prayer. Amen.

Thank you for sharing your need and asking for prayer for your eyes and for the appointment with the retina doctor. I am praying for you in the name of Jesus, asking God to be gracious to you, to guide the doctor's examination and care, and to grant you clear sight.

The Scriptures show that Jesus healed in many different ways and was not confined to one pattern. Sometimes He healed instantly with a word, sometimes with a touch, sometimes even from a distance when He told someone to go home and they found the healing already done. At Bethsaida He laid His hands on a blind man a second time before his vision became completely clear, the only recorded gradual healing in His ministry. That account reminds us that healing can be immediate and it can also be a process, and any true healing is divine. God has established healing processes within our bodies. He created nature and the processes of nature, so healing that comes through the body's own restoration and through the skill of physicians is still from Him.

We have strong reason to bring physical needs to Him. Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would bear our infirmities and sicknesses, and Matthew applies that prophecy to Jesus healing the sick, showing that His suffering was for our spiritual and physical need. The Gospels tell us Jesus went about teaching and preaching and healing every kind of sickness and disease among the people, and the early believers continued to bring the sick for prayer. With God all things are possible, and I believe He is able to heal today.

At the same time there is much about healing that we do not fully understand, and Scripture teaches us to pray with trust in God's wisdom and will. Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh to be removed, and God did not remove it in the way Paul asked. To assume God wills physical healing in the same way in every case is not what the Bible teaches. God sometimes brings complete physical restoration, and at other times His healing work is seen in strengthening the mind and heart, bringing peace and inner wholeness even while we wait. Our culture can make it hard to trust Him fully, and we need to come humbly, without demanding a particular method or trying to create excitement, simply looking to Jesus.

So I pray for you now, asking the Lord Jesus who bore our infirmities to lay His hand upon your eyes. I ask Him to give wisdom to the doctor, to bring whatever healing He wills, whether instantly or gradually through the care you receive, and to keep your vision clear for all the years He gives you. I ask Him to fill you with peace and confidence in His love, knowing that whatever the outcome, He is present and able to care for you in body, mind and spirit. I commit you to His good and perfect will, trusting that He hears prayer and does what is best.

May the Lord grant you comfort and strength as you wait on Him, and may you know His nearness and care.

We pray in Jesus Name that He who is our healer would grant you complete healing and keep your eyesight clear and strong all the days of your life according to Jeremiah 30:17 and Psalm 146:8.
