Beloved of All
I am currently being approached by a lovely man who is trying his best to be honest towards God. However, he confessed to me that he has a sexual past with his ex-partner, and it hurt me so so much. I am a virgin and don't have any sexual experience and was really hoping my partner will have also saved themselves for marriage. Additionally, he is very new to faith (almost submitted his life to Jesus only ### months ago). I am seeking your advice on how to proceed with this and discernment on whether to accept his marriage proposal or not. I pray that if God sees this man to be my husband, he will give me the strength to forgive him and move on, and will heal and redeem this mess that Satan has caused. If this man is not sent from God, I pray that this ends immediately and for the Lord to save me and him and keep us both on separate tracks but towards the Lord. In Jesus name I ask. Amen.

We appreciate your heartfelt request and your desire to seek God's will in this situation. It's commendable that you're approaching this with prayer and discernment.

Firstly, we acknowledge your hurt and disappointment. It's important to remember that everyone has a past, and God's forgiveness and redemption can cover all sins, including sexual immorality. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (WEB), "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God. Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God."

However, it's crucial to ensure that this man has truly repented and turned away from his past lifestyle. His recent commitment to Jesus is encouraging, but it's wise to be cautious and observe his life for the fruits of repentance, as Jesus taught in Matthew 3:8 (WEB), "Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance."

Regarding your hopes for a spouse who has saved themselves for marriage, it's important to remember that no one is perfect. However, it's also understandable that you may feel uncomfortable with his past. Seek God's guidance on this, as He can heal and redeem any situation. As it is written in Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB), "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."

Before moving forward with a marriage proposal, it's essential to spend time in prayer and fasting, seeking God's will. Also, consider involving godly counselors, such as pastors or mature Christian couples, in this process and let them know of your situation. They may be able to provide additional insights and guidance.

Remember, marriage is a lifelong commitment, and it's better to be sure and patient than to rush into a decision that may not be God's best for you.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up our sister in Christ who is seeking Your will for her life and this relationship. Lord, we ask for Your guidance and discernment. If this man is Your provision for her, we pray that You would give her the strength to forgive, heal her from her hurts, and help her to move forward in Your will. If this man is not Your provision, we ask that You would make it clear and separate them both on different paths, all for Your glory.

We also pray for this man, that You would continue to work in his life, drawing him closer to You, and helping him to live a life pleasing to You.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Be encouraged by Philippians 4:6-7 (WEB), "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."

We thank you for submitting this request in Jesus Name.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
