Prayer for Difficult Housing situation

Faunar

Disciple of Prayer
Hello, I am asking for a prayer request for myself and my little family. We put a notice at our current apartment and then the plans failed. I’ve tried to withdraw the notice, but the apt denied my request, now I have ### weeks to find housing, and I have been denied at all places I have applied. Please pray that we find a place close to work that is safe. Or that my current apartment has a change of heart and lets me withdraw my notice. Thank you so much!

We join you in prayer for you and your little family in this very stressful and uncertain housing situation and we bring your need before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus name. We understand the anxiety of having given notice and then having plans fall through, and now facing a short deadline with denials from other places. Our hearts are with you as you seek a safe home close to work and we trust that God sees your struggle and cares deeply for you and your family.

We are reminded that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1 and that we can cast all our worries on Him because He cares for us 1 Peter 5:7. We take comfort in His promise that our God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. Jesus taught us not to be anxious saying do not be anxious, saying, What will we eat or What will we drink or With what will we be clothed For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first Gods Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:31-33. We also remember that the kings heart is in Yahwehs hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever He desires Proverbs 21:1, so we can pray even for a change of heart with your current apartment management.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord earnestly, to seek wise counsel and practical help as well, to communicate humbly and clearly in writing with your current management, to seek guidance from local housing assistance or legal aid if available, and to reach out to your church family for support and for any leads on safe housing. We encourage you to keep applying and trusting that God can open a door that no one can shut, and to rest in His peace which surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7 as you wait on Him. We know that in all things God works for good with those who love Him, those who are called according to His purpose Romans 8:28.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to gently share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and brought near to God. We encourage you to call upon His name and to place your trust fully in Him not only for this housing need but for eternal life.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear family to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. You know their need, their deadline, their fears, and their desire for a safe home close to work. Lord we ask for Your provision and Your mercy. If it is Your will, soften the heart of the management at the current apartment and allow the notice to be withdrawn, or open a new door to a safe, affordable place that You have prepared for them. Grant them favor with landlords and with those who review applications. Give them wisdom, peace, and strength for each day, and guard their hearts from fear. Provide for every need and let them see Your hand at work so they may give You glory. Help them to seek You first and to trust You with all their hearts leaning not on their own understanding but acknowledging You in all their ways Proverbs 3:5-6. Draw them closer to Jesus and assure them of Your love and care. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear how heavy these past few weeks have been for you and your little family. Putting in notice in good faith, having plans fall through, then being told you cannot stay and hearing no from every other place you have tried would leave anyone feeling pressed and tired. We are praying with you for a safe, steady place close to work, and for favor if there is still any chance to remain where you are.

One thing that sometimes helps in this kind of pile up is to make the next steps as clear and supported as possible. If you have not already, it may help to ask your current manager for a brief in person meeting and put your request to withdraw the notice in writing, calmly explaining what changed and asking what options they might consider, even a short extension. Bringing any record of on time rent and care for the unit can help them see you clearly. At the same time, many communities have a local housing counselor or church benevolence contact who knows which nearby properties are actually taking applications and can sometimes provide a reference letter or make a call on your behalf. Asking one trusted person to walk with you in those calls can lighten the load.

We are asking God to give you wisdom for each conversation, peace for your family in the waiting, and open doors for a safe home.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this family to You. You see their need and their timeline and the places they have already been turned away. Give them favor, guidance and provision for a safe home near work, and calm their hearts as they wait on You. Amen.

We have heard your burden concerning your little family and the strait into which you have been brought, with but weeks to find housing after your notice could not be withdrawn and with doors thus far closed wherever you have applied. We join you in prayer before our heavenly Father who knows your need.

Our Savior says to us, do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. He would have us not be anxious about temporal affairs. Be prudent, as you have been in seeking a home, and continue in all diligence, yet do not let anxiety master you. I have found by my own experience and by observation of others that anxiety has never comforted anybody, nor has it ever brought any grist to the mill or any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. Indeed the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty.

This is for you an hour of crisis, and we may read that word as our Lord used it, a turning point, a hinge upon which history hangs. The great crisis of this world was when Christ died, and there hope was secured for all who trust Him. So your present crisis, though painful, is not beyond His providence. He who brings His supper with Him when He enters the house needs only that you open the heart to Him, for He Himself is our provision. While life lasts Jesus is passing by, and now is the time to cast your care upon Him.

We pray for you, that the Lord in His mercy would provide a safe dwelling close to your work, suited to your little family, or if it be His will, that He would soften the heart of those who hold your present apartment and grant you favour to withdraw your notice. We ask that He would guide your steps to the right door, give you peace that surpasses fretfulness, and fit you with wisdom and calmness to do what prudence requires day by day. May He keep you from that distress which profits nothing, and keep you near to Christ who is Himself the hinge and hope of all our days.

We will continue to remember you and your household before the throne of grace, that you may see the Lord's hand open a way where now there seems to be none, and that you may be kept in perfect trust until He does.

May the Lord provide safe and affordable housing for ### and their little family, close to work. May He soften the hearts of the current apartment management to allow the notice to be withdrawn, or open a new door quickly. May God go before them and make a way where there seems to be no way, in Jesus' name, Amen.
