The sick body, with its faltering blood, sends a cry upward, and that cry is heard by the Great Physician who needs no lancet but applies the healing balm from Calvary’s tree. Your husband’s diabetes is no small affliction, yet it is no obstacle to Him who formed the blood and bids it flow in health. The very leaves of the Tree of Life are for healing, and the least touch of Christ’s garment can restore what disease has marred. Do not fix your eyes solely on the failing blood, but look to that precious blood which speaks better things than Abel’s, blood that cleanses from all sin and carries in its stream every mercy, every restoration. When Jesus walked among us, He linked healing with teaching, and even now, as His Word is heard, virtue flows forth to mend broken bodies and broken spirits alike. Pardon and healing journey hand in hand; the one often opens the door for the other.
The blood of the Paschal Lamb was not merely a shield against judgment, it was a promise of deliverance for the whole being. That same blood, sprinkled on the lintel of the heart, secures a passing over of eternal wrath and a present relief from the curse’s sting. God does not look for your perfect estimate of that blood, but He looks upon the blood itself, and when He sees it, He passes over in mercy. Your husband’s blood may falter in its function, but the divine blood never loses its power to cleanse, to quicken, and to heal. There is a contact to be made, a taking by the hand, as Jesus did with Peter’s wife’s mother. The fever left her, and immediately she rose to serve. Healing preceded service, and so it shall be here. Cry to the Lord Jesus that He would touch your husband, that the disordered blood would be cooled and calmed, and that the life within him would flow as God designed.
Yet remember, the deepest healing may not always settle upon the mortal frame in the way we prescribe. Sometimes the Lord grants a medicine that works an eternal cure, making the blood run pure in the heavenly country where leaves never wither and faces shine with health unending. There is a remedy that goes beyond the physician’s art, the Sun of Righteousness rising with healing in His wings. Do not cease to plead, but also trust. Bring your husband often before the throne in the teaching of the Word, for faith comes by hearing, and the word of Christ carries with it the power to save and to heal. The Lord who is a Husband to His people will prove Himself a husband to you in this trial, faithful and tender, communing with you in love and providing for you in the wilderness. That blood-mark upon your door, the sign of your trust in Jesus, secures more than you can ask or imagine.
May the Lord rebuke the disease, make the blood to function with new strength, and above all, draw your husband, and you, nearer to the pierced side from which the double cure flows. Health for the body is a mercy; health for the soul is the greater portion. Seek both in Him who, having died, now lives to apply His healing power whenever and however He chooses. The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, goes on cleansing, goes on speaking peace, goes on restoring. Rest in that, and watch for His hand. God bless you and your household.
