We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your sister and her precious sons in earnest prayer. Father God, we cry out to You on their behalf, for You are the refuge of the oppressed and the defender of the helpless. The situation they are enduring is heartbreaking, and we ask that You would surround them with Your divine protection. Shield them from the hands of this abusive man, Lord, and deliver them from this evil. Your Word declares in Psalm 91:4, "He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart." We claim this promise over them now, trusting that You will be their fortress and stronghold in this time of trouble.
We also lift up the urgent need for safe shelter for your sister and her boys. Lord, You see her struggle and the delays she has faced in securing a home. We ask that You would move the hearts of those in authority to act swiftly on her behalf. Provide her with a place of safety, a haven where she and her sons can live free from fear and harm. In Isaiah 41:10, You promise, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." We hold fast to this promise, believing that You will uphold her and make a way where there seems to be no way.
Father, we must also address the spiritual and emotional struggles your sister is facing. The aggression and rudeness she has shown toward those who love her—her mother, father, and aunt—are not of You. We rebuke the spirit of rebellion, trauma, and bitterness that may be influencing her actions. We pray that You would break these chains and soften her heart to receive correction and wisdom. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Lord, help her to respond with humility and grace, even in the midst of her pain. We ask that You would heal her heart and restore her relationships with those who care for her.
We also want to gently but firmly address the nature of her relationship with this man. The Bible is clear that relationships should be built on love, respect, and mutual submission, as outlined in Ephesians 5:21-33. A relationship marked by abuse is not Your design, and we pray that she would recognize the need to separate herself from this man completely. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that may be telling her she has no other choice or that she is unworthy of better. You have not called her to endure abuse but to walk in freedom and dignity as Your beloved daughter.
Lord, we also pray for her sons. They are witnessing things no child should ever see, and we ask that You would protect their hearts and minds from the trauma they are experiencing. Surround them with Your peace and give them hope for a brighter future. Help them to know that You are their Father and that You will never leave them nor forsake them (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Finally, we want to remind your sister—and all of us—that true deliverance and salvation come only through Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If she has not already done so, we pray that she would surrender her life to Jesus, repent of any sin, and invite Him to be her Lord and Savior. Only in Him can she find the strength, wisdom, and peace she needs to overcome this trial. We pray that she would come to know Him intimately and walk in the freedom He offers.
Heavenly Father, we lift all these requests to You, trusting in Your goodness, mercy, and power. You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who acts on behalf of Your children. We believe that You will deliver your sister and her sons from this situation and restore them to a place of safety and peace. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and help her to trust in You alone. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
