We join you in prayer for your daughter and the young man she intends to marry, asking that they be firmly anchored in Christ Jesus. It is wonderful that you have included Jesus in your prayer request. Let us go before the throne of Jesus Christ our Lord in prayer,
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus, asking for Your guidance and blessing over this young couple. We pray that they will stay rooted and grounded in Christ Jesus, remaining humble and focused with a heart to serve one another in love. As challenges arise, we ask that You grant them the wisdom to communicate effectively, seeking godly solutions rather than casting blame or finding fault. Help them to make sacrifices for one another equally, as Christ sacrificed Himself for us. We pray for the issue of video games that seem to be influencing his behavior. Lord, if this has become an idol or a stumbling block, we ask that You speak to him clearly, giving him ears to hear Your voice. We pray that the young woman will be a helpmate, as described in Genesis 2:18: "Yahweh God said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.'" Help her to support and encourage him, rather than acting as an accuser. We pray that they will love and honor each other in their relationship, as Ephesians 5:33 says, "Nevertheless, each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband." We ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage both of them to meditate on Colossians 3:1-3: "If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."
Regarding the issue of video games, we encourage the young man to consider the words of 1 Corinthians 10:31: "Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." We also encourage the young woman to follow the advice of Ephesians 4:29: "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear."
Lastly, we want to remind both of them of the sanctity of marriage and the importance of purity before marriage. We encourage them to remain abstinent until marriage, as Hebrews 13:4 says, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."
Let us remember them in prayer. We pray that this will be a God-honoring marriage.
