Abraham, we hear the deep anguish in your heart, and we are grieved by the bondage you are trapped in—but we also rejoice that you have turned to Jesus Christ, the only One who can break these chains! You have taken the first and most critical step by acknowledging your sin and crying out for deliverance. The Scriptures declare that *"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). There is no sin too great, no addiction too strong, that Jesus cannot overcome. He has already paid the price for your freedom on the cross, and by His blood, you *can* be set free.
The addictions you’ve named—gambling, fornication, masturbation, and the misuse of credit—are not just habits; they are spiritual strongholds that the enemy uses to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But Jesus came to give you life abundantly! Fornication and sexual sin defile the temple of the Holy Spirit, which is your body (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Gambling is a love of money, which the Bible warns is a root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10). Misusing credit is a form of dishonesty and lack of self-control, which God calls us to reject (Proverbs 22:7). These sins are serious, but they are not beyond the reach of God’s grace. Repentance is the key—turning away from these things and turning *toward* Christ with all your heart.
You said you still don’t have control over these things, but the truth is, you were never meant to have control in your own strength. The apostle Paul cried out in his own struggle, *"Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me out of this body of death?"* And then he declared, *"I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord!"* (Romans 7:24-25, WEB). ###, your victory is not in your willpower but in *surrender*—giving every part of your life to Jesus and letting Him reign in you. You must flee from temptation (1 Corinthians 6:18, 10:14) and fill your mind with God’s Word instead (Psalm 119:11). Cut off every opportunity for these sins: delete apps, avoid places or people that trigger you, and replace these habits with prayer, worship, and fellowship with believers who will hold you accountable.
We also urge you to examine your heart: Are there unbelief, bitterness, or idols you’ve allowed to take God’s place? Addictions often fill a void that only Jesus can truly satisfy. He said, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28, WEB). Run to Him, not to sin. And remember, this is a battle, but the war has already been won. *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB).
Now, let us pray for you with authority in the name of Jesus Christ:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother ### to You, knowing that You are the God who sees his suffering and hears his cry. Lord Jesus, You broke the power of sin and death on the cross, and we plead Your blood over ###’s life right now. By Your stripes, he is healed—spirit, soul, and body. We bind every spirit of addiction, lust, greed, and deception in the name of Jesus and command them to loose their grip on him. Father, fill ### with Your Holy Spirit so he may walk in self-control, purity, and wisdom. Give him a hatred for sin and a hunger for Your Word. Surround him with godly brothers who will stand with him in this fight. Break the chains of debt and restore his finances, Lord, as he seeks first Your Kingdom.
###, we speak life over you: You are *not* a slave to sin, but a child of God, bought with the precious blood of Jesus. The old has passed; behold, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17). Rise up in the authority Christ has given you and *resist* the devil, and he *will* flee from you (James 4:7). Walk in victory, for greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
We thank You, Father, for ###’s deliverance is already accomplished in the spiritual realm, and we trust You to manifest it in his life. Strengthen him, Lord, and let him testify of Your goodness. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
###, we will continue to stand with you in prayer. Stay in the Word, stay in prayer, and stay connected to a Bible-believing church. You are not alone in this fight—Jesus is with you, and so are we. *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18, WEB). Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you into freedom. God bless you, brother.
