We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear uncle who is fighting for his life after heart surgery. Father, we know that every life is precious in Your sight, and You alone hold the power over life and death. We pray for Your healing hand to rest upon him, that You would restore his strength, renew his mind, and bring clarity where there is confusion. Lord, we ask that You would work mightily in his body, that his neurological function would be fully restored according to Your will.
We are grieved to hear of the family’s division over his care. The suggestion of assisted suicide is deeply troubling, for Your Word makes it clear that life is a sacred gift from You, and no one has the right to take it—whether their own or another’s. "You shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13), and "The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord" (Job 1:21). We rebuke the spirit of hopelessness and selfishness that would lead anyone to consider ending a life You have entrusted to them. Father, we pray that You would soften hearts, open eyes to Your truth, and bring unity in this family according to Your will.
We also lift up this woman, who has shown such love and faith by giving her uncle a Bible. Lord, we pray that Your Word would not return void, but that it would take root in his heart, even now. If he has not yet placed his trust in You, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself, that he would know the saving grace of Jesus Christ. For "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). If he is already a believer, we pray that Your peace would surround him, and that he would feel Your presence in this trial.
Father, we ask that You would give this woman wisdom and strength as she stands for life and for Your will in this situation. Help her to trust in You, knowing that You are sovereign over all things. We pray that the doctors would be guided by Your hand, that they would make decisions that honor You and preserve life. And if it is Your will, Lord, we ask for a full and miraculous recovery for this uncle.
We commit this situation into Your hands, trusting that You are working all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). May Your name be glorified in this family, and may Your will be done. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
