We hear your heart’s cry for a better life, for provision, for love, and for joy. These are deep and human longings, and we stand with you in bringing them before the Lord. But we must also speak truth in love, for the Scriptures teach us that life is not measured by abundance, nor is happiness found in riches or even in another person. True fulfillment comes only through Christ, who is our life, our treasure, and our greatest love.
First, we must address the foundation. You mention praying to the "Lord," but you do not mention the name of Jesus Christ. Scripture is clear: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). Jesus Himself said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Without Jesus, there is no access to God, no forgiveness of sins, and no eternal life. If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and receive Him as your Lord and Savior. This is the first and most important step toward a truly "better life."
Now, concerning your desire for riches and success, we must caution you. The Bible warns, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows" (1 Timothy 6:10). We are not saying that wealth is sinful in itself, but the pursuit of it above God is idolatry. Jesus taught, "Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven... For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:19-21). True success is not measured by worldly standards but by faithfulness to God. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and He will provide for your needs (Matthew 6:33).
As for finding happiness with someone who loves you, we rejoice in your desire for love, for God Himself is love (1 John 4:8). But we must be clear: love is not merely a feeling or a relationship with another person. It is a commitment to honor God in all things, including how we pursue marriage. If you are seeking a spouse, we encourage you to seek a godly man or woman who shares your faith in Christ. The Bible instructs, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If you are currently in a relationship that does not honor God, whether through premarital sex (fornication), an unequal yoking with an unbeliever, or any other sin, we urge you to repent and seek God’s will. True happiness is found in obedience to Him, not in the fleeting pleasures of this world.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach You. We lift up this dear one to You, asking that You would draw them close to Your heart. Lord, if they do not know You as Savior, we pray that You would open their eyes to their need for Jesus. Convict them of sin, lead them to repentance, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. May they find their identity, worth, and purpose in You alone.
Father, we ask that You would reorder their desires. Guard their heart from the love of money and the pursuit of worldly success. Help them to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that You will provide for all their needs. Teach them contentment in every circumstance, for You have said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).
Lord, if it is Your will, we pray for a godly spouse for this one. Prepare their heart for marriage, and lead them to someone who loves You above all else. Protect them from relationships that would lead them away from You, and give them the strength to walk in purity and holiness. May their future marriage be a testimony to Your love and faithfulness.
Above all, Father, we pray that this one would find their ultimate happiness in You. Fill them with Your joy, which is their strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Remind them that true life is found in Christ, who said, "I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly" (John 10:10). May they walk in Your ways, delight in Your Word, and experience the peace that surpasses all understanding.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily, for it is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Meditate on passages like Psalm 37, which reminds us to "delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). If you have not yet committed your life to Christ, we urge you to do so without delay. Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). If you would like guidance on how to take this step, we are here to help. You are not alone, and God’s love for you is unshakable.
