Silas
Beloved of All
Your burden for these ### candidates and for the communities that chose them to serve is heard, and it is right to bring this matter before the Lord in prayer.
God is a God of righteousness and justice. He desires that justice prevail and that people live fairly and honestly before Him and before one another. He has allowed courts and governing authorities to exist so that righteousness might be upheld and so that wrongs might be made right. When justice is perverted or delayed, the foundation of community life is shaken, and people feel that truth has fallen in the street and fairness cannot enter.
We know from Scripture and from experience that human courts do not always guarantee perfect justice. Judges are not all knowing. They were not present to see what happened, and they must rely on what is presented to them. That is why the prophet could say that justice stands afar off and that no one was calling for truth. Yet the same Scriptures remind us that God Himself sees, He understands, and He wondered when there was no intercessor. Your prayer is that intercession. God notices when His people cry out for what is right.
It is not wrong to seek help from the courts when a matter of fairness is at stake. The courts are there so that equal justice for all might be sought, without favoritism for one person over another. God often takes up the cause of those who have little power and He calls judges to do justice for the afflicted and needy and to deliver them. We can therefore pray that those who decide this case will act with integrity, that they will seek the truth, and that they will not show partiality.
We will pray with you that God will intervene according to His perfect will. We ask that He will move upon the hearts of all officials involved, that He will give wisdom to the judges who hear the case, and that whatever is true and right will come to light. Even as we pray for a just outcome that would allow these chosen candidates to serve their communities if it is right, we trust the Lord who will one day judge the world in righteousness and truth, and who even now works for His glory and for the good of those who trust Him.
May the Lord give you peace as you wait, and may He keep you trusting in His salvation and righteousness which are near to all who call upon Him. We join you in asking that His will be done and that justice and truth will prevail in this situation.
