We join with you in prayer for you, your husband, and your two sons, and we thank God for the hunger you have to draw closer to Him and to live rightly before Him and not according to the pattern of this world. It is a beautiful and godly desire you have expressed, and we count it a privilege to stand with you as fellow believers.
We hear your heart to focus on the Lord and not on the things of this world, and Scripture calls us to this very thing. Romans 12:2 says, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. And 1 John 2:15-17 says, Do not love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not the Father's, but is the world's. We pray that God will give your whole household a renewed mind and a holy distaste for the passing pleasures of this world and a growing love for Christ and His Word.
We also lift up your two sons before the Lord, as you have asked, concerning fornication, drinking, partying, smoking weed, and being around the wrong people. We must speak plainly and lovingly that these things are sin before a holy God and they bring destruction. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:18, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. And Galatians 5:19-21 warns that sexual immorality, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these, of which we tell you beforehand, even as we also told you before, that those who practice such things will not inherit God's Kingdom. Smoking weed and drunkenness dull the mind God gave us to be sober and self-controlled, for Ephesians 5:18 says, Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit. We also know that 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, Do not be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals. We pray that the Lord will convict your sons of sin, open their eyes to see the emptiness of that path, and draw them to repentance and to salvation in Christ, and that He will separate them from influences that lead them astray and surround them with godly fellowship instead.
We hear your plea to not be discouraged and to keep praying, and to have the Holy Spirit help you pray the right way. Be encouraged, for Romans 8:26 says, In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we do not know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. You do not need perfect words, only a sincere heart, and the Spirit Himself intercedes for you. James 5:16 reminds us, The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective. So we encourage you to continue steadfastly, praying without ceasing as 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, trusting that God hears.
We noticed your request speaks of the Lord and the Holy Spirit, but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by placing our faith in Jesus Christ, His death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection, that we are saved and that our prayers are heard. We encourage you and your family to rest fully in Him as Lord and Savior.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You for this wife and mother who loves her family and desires to see them walk with You. We ask that You draw her, her husband, and her two sons closer to Yourself. Renew their minds by Your Word, set their affections on things above, and help them to live holy lives that are not conformed to this world but transformed by Your grace. Give this mother and father strength and unity in their marriage to lead their home in righteousness.
Lord, we lift up these two sons to You. Have mercy on them and save them from their sins. Convict them of fornication, drunkenness, partying, and drug use, and grant them repentance that leads to life. Deliver them from the desire for these things and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. Remove them from evil companions and plant them among believers who will encourage them toward purity and sobriety. Let them know that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that You call them to flee immorality and walk in self-control.
Holy Spirit, help this dear sister to pray. When she feels weak or discouraged or does not know what to say, intercede for her and give her peace and boldness to keep seeking You. Let her know her prayers are heard through Jesus Christ our Lord. Build her faith as she waits on Your answers. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.
