Thank you for sharing so openly about what you are carrying. Your request has been heard, and God does care about you, about your work, your finances, your future, and your nearness to Him.

You described feeling heavy, down, depressed, and far from God, as if He does not see or care about marriage, children, or your daily life. Those feelings of heaviness, discouragement and restlessness are real, and Scripture is honest about them. At times they are also part of the spiritual struggle around us, where the enemy whispers that God does not see or that He has forgotten. It helps to be completely honest with God about that. The psalmist was honest when he said his soul was cast down and disquieted within him, and then he reminded himself to put God back into the equation. He said, hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, who is the health of my countenance and my God. Depression often grows when we try to figure everything out apart from God. When we factor Him in, fear can turn to hope and heaviness can turn to praise, not because circumstances instantly change, but because our hope is anchored in Him.

Joy does not finally come from a job or from having every bill paid. It comes from being in a right relationship with God. Circumstances can still be very hard, and yet the heart can have joy because it is united to Him. Apart from Him there is a deep emptiness that nothing else fills. We were made for fellowship with God, and that fellowship was broken by sin. Our spirits were dead and alienated from Him, and there was no way back on our own. That is why God showed His love by sending Jesus Christ, who died in our place and rose again, so that through faith in Him we can be forgiven, made alive, accounted righteous before God, and restored to fellowship. That righteousness is His work, and what God does endures forever. Nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. If you have trusted in Jesus, your standing before God is secure in Him, even when your feelings rise and fall. Faith rests not on changing feelings but on the unchanging word of God, that if you confess Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. The Holy Spirit makes that word alive and fills the heart with a living hope because of the resurrection.

You also asked for work, for a full time job that is satisfying, for provision to pay bills and to get things needed for Bible study, and for work for your dad and family. God knows your needs. When He guides, He also provides. He is not on the brink of failure, waiting for us to rescue His plans. He owns all things and all that we have comes from His hand. He has promised to be with us in every trial, even though He has not promised to keep us from every problem. At times He withholds what we ask because He sees what we do not see. Looking back, many can thank Him for prayers He did not answer as they asked, because He was protecting them or shaping something better and more lasting. That does not mean we stop asking. It means we ask while trusting His wisdom. Striving with God over finances or over the timing of marriage and children only deepens unrest. He knows what riches or poverty would do in our lives, and what timing is best for a lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman and for the gift of children within it. It is right to desire those good things and to ask Him for them according to His will, while trusting that His desires for you are only for your good. His love for you is broader than you can measure.

Your help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He is the God of hope, and there is no real hope apart from Him. When you have Him, hope expands. Scripture speaks of a river whose streams make glad the city of God, picturing His presence flowing to His people. He promises that presence to those who seek Him.

I am praying for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I bring this dear one before You. You see the financial pressure, the bills, the search for work, and the weariness with work that feels empty. Provide a full time job that is good and satisfying, work where gifts can be used for Your glory and for the good of others. Meet daily needs and provide for what is needed for Bible study and for life. I pray also for dad and for family, for their work and provision. Lift the heaviness and depression, and replace it with hope in You. Help this heart to remember You, to be honest before You, and to find joy in fellowship with You even while waiting. Make Your presence near and real, for You have promised never to leave those who are Yours. Guard this life from striving against You, and give peace to trust Your timing for marriage and for children, according to Your perfect will. Fill this heart with joy and peace in believing, and cause hope to abound by the Holy Spirit. Cause Your grace to abound so there is sufficiency and an abundance for every good work, and let thanksgiving rise to You. In Jesus name, amen.

Keep seeking Him in His word and in prayer, even with simple honest words. He hears, He cares, and He is near.
