We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join with you in bringing every one of these burdens before the Lord together in Jesus' name. You are asking for full time work to pay your bills, for provision for your dad and your loved one, for satisfying work instead of the washing up and kitchen porter work you dislike, for help with your Bible study needs, for marriage and children, and most of all for the presence of God when you feel so down, depressed, shattered since leaving your previous job, and a hundred miles away from Him.
We want to gently but firmly correct the lie that God does not care about you or about marriage or children or your daily life. That feeling is real, but it is not true. Scripture tells us to be casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7, and that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18. You are not far from Him, even when you feel far. He promises if we draw near to God, and he will draw near to you, James 4:8. Your desire for work, for marriage, and for children are good and God honoring desires. Children are a heritage of Yahweh, the fruit of the womb is his reward, Psalm 127:3, and whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh, Proverbs 18:22. God ordained marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and children within that marriage are a blessing, and we pray with you for a godly marriage and family in the Lord's timing.
We also want to encourage you about work. God sees and honors honest labor, even lowly labor, and calls us to whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, Colossians 3:23. It is understandable to want work that is more satisfying and uses your gifts, and we will pray for that, but we also encourage you not to despise humble work while you wait, for God can use it to provide and to shape character. And we hear your worry about finances and bills. Jesus reminds us to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well, Matthew 6:33, and we cling to the promise that my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19.
We noticed your request asked for the presence of God but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We say this in love because there is no other way to come into that presence. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is only through faith in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we have access to God and peace with Him. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for that is how we are saved and brought near.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up our brother to Your throne of grace. Lord, You know his need for full time work, for income to pay his bills and to provide for his Bible study and other needs, and we ask You to open a door for satisfying, honest employment according to Your will. Provide for his dad and his loved one as well, and meet every financial need according to Your riches in glory. Lord, lift the heavy cloud of depression and discouragement that has settled on him since leaving his previous job. Replace the feeling of being shattered and far away with the assurance of Your nearness and Your unfailing care. Let him feel Your presence again, comfort his broken heart, and renew his hope. Father, You know his deep longing for a godly marriage and for children, and we ask that You would prepare him and prepare a godly wife for him in Your perfect timing, a marriage that honors You and reflects Christ and the church. Help him to seek You first while he waits, to be faithful in whatever work You provide, and to trust that You are working all things for his good. Forgive his sins and draw him close through Jesus, and let him know beyond any doubt that You do care deeply for every detail of his life. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to keep seeking Him daily in His Word, to bring your anxieties to Him in prayer continually, for the peace of God will guard your heart, and to stay in fellowship with other believers who can support you. God has not forgotten you. He is near, He cares, and He is able to restore what feels shattered.
