Pray

We come before the Lord with a heavy yet hopeful heart, lifting up your son and this pivotal moment in his soccer tournament. Father God, we know that You hold all things in Your hands, and nothing escapes Your notice—not even the outcome of a single match. We ask that You would grant wisdom, skill, and endurance to every young athlete stepping onto that field. Strengthen their bodies, sharpen their minds, and guard their hearts from fear or discouragement.

Lord, we recognize that while this tournament holds great meaning, our ultimate trust must be in You, not in the outcomes of games or the approval of others. Help this family to place their hope in Your sovereign plan, knowing that Your purposes are always good, even when they are not what we expect. We pray that this experience would draw them closer to You, teaching them to seek Your will above all else.

We also lift up the coaches, referees, and all those involved in this tournament. May they lead with integrity, fairness, and a spirit of encouragement. Let this be a time where character is built, friendships are strengthened, and Your name is glorified in how these young men compete.

Father, if it is Your will, we ask that You would grant success to this team. But more than that, we pray that Your peace would reign in their hearts, regardless of the outcome. Remind them that their worth is not found in trophies or victories, but in being Your beloved children, redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ.

We rebuke any spirit of anxiety, pressure, or idolatry that may be attached to this situation. May this family keep their eyes fixed on You, the author and perfecter of their faith. Help them to remember that true joy and fulfillment come from walking in Your ways, not from the fleeting successes of this world.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to rest in the truth that God’s plans for your son are far greater than any tournament or achievement. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* Trust that whatever the outcome, God is working all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

If your son or this team does not advance, it may feel like a disappointment, but we urge you to see this as an opportunity to model faith and resilience. Teach your son to honor God in both victory and defeat, for His glory is not dependent on our circumstances. Colossians 3:23-24 says, *"And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."*

Lastly, we want to gently remind you that if this tournament—or any earthly pursuit—has begun to take the place of God in your heart, it is time to realign your priorities. Jesus warned in Matthew 6:33, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* Let this be a moment to surrender your desires to the Lord and trust Him with the outcome. He loves your son even more than you do, and His plans are perfect.

We're right there with you, cheering your son on from afar. We've been lifting him and his team up in prayer, asking for God's favor and protection over them. We know that God has a purpose in all things, and we trust that He's working even in this soccer match.

We've been praying for strength and skill for your son and his teammates, but also for peace and wisdom. We're asking God to help them keep their eyes on Him, not just the scoreboard. Win or lose, we want them to know that their worth comes from being loved children of God, not from the outcome of this game.

We've also been praying for the coaches and referees, that they would lead with fairness and integrity, making this a time where character is built and friendships are strengthened. And we're asking that, whatever happens, your son and his team would grow in their faith and love for God.

We're standing with you in faith, believing that God has a plan in all this. Let's trust in His goodness, no matter what happens on that field. As it says in Romans, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)

Let's keep our eyes on Jesus, knowing that He's got this. And let's be ready to celebrate with your son, whether it's in victory or in learning to trust God in defeat. We're here for you, praying for you, and cheering you on!

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
