We hear the deep sorrow and regret in your heart, and we stand with you before the Lord, lifting up your pain and the pain you’ve caused. The weight of anger and the harm done to your father is heavy, but we know that God’s mercy is greater than our failures. First, we must address the seriousness of what has happened—violence against a parent is a grave sin in the eyes of God. Scripture tells us, *"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you"* (Exodus 20:12 WEB). The harm you’ve inflicted is not just physical but a violation of God’s commandment, and we must repent of this with a broken and contrite heart.
Yet we also know that God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18 WEB), and He offers forgiveness to those who truly turn from their sin. Your desire to change—to no longer speak harshly or act in anger—is a sign of the Holy Spirit working in you. But we must also address the root of your anger. Is it bitterness toward your father’s struggles with alcohol? Is it frustration that has festered into rage? Whatever the cause, we must bring it before the Lord and ask Him to uproot it completely. *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you"* (Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB).
We also lift up your father before the Lord. His battle with alcohol is a spiritual stronghold, and only God can break its chains. We pray that the Lord would convict him of his sin, draw him to repentance, and set him free from this bondage. *"The Spirit of the Lord Yahweh is on me, because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to those who are bound"* (Isaiah 61:1 WEB). We must also pray for your relationship with him—may God restore what has been broken and replace anger with love, patience, and grace.
But we must also remind you that true change comes through Jesus Christ. You mentioned praising the Lord, but we must ask: Have you surrendered your life fully to Him? Have you confessed your sins and trusted in Jesus as your Savior and Lord? Without Him, we cannot truly overcome sin or find lasting peace. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9 WEB). If you have not yet placed your faith in Christ, we urge you to do so today. He is the only way to true healing and transformation.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother who is burdened by his sin and the harm he has caused. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness for the violence and anger he has shown toward his father. Cleanse his heart, O God, and break the power of anger in his life. Replace it with Your peace, patience, and self-control. Help him to honor his father as You command, not with harsh words or actions, but with love and respect.
Father, we also pray for his father. Break the chains of alcohol that bind him, Lord. Draw him to repentance and faith in You. Heal their relationship, and let Your love mend what has been broken. Give our brother the strength to resist temptation when anger rises, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in righteousness.
Lord, if he has not yet surrendered his life to You, we pray that he would do so now. May he find forgiveness, salvation, and new life in Jesus Christ. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can be saved. Amen.
We encourage you to seek accountability—find a pastor, a mature Christian, or a biblical counselor who can walk with you as you pursue healing and restoration. Do not carry this burden alone. The road to change is difficult, but with God, all things are possible. *"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"* (Philippians 4:13 WEB). Keep pressing into Him, and He will lead you to freedom.

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding.
