Disciple of Prayer
I have schizoaffective disorder. I’m 31 years old and I live with my mom. In five years my mom will retire and I will be homeless. Please pray I die before then.

We hear the depth of your pain and despair, and our hearts ache with you. Schizoaffective disorder is an incredibly heavy burden to carry, and the fear of losing your home and support is overwhelming. But we must rebuke the spirit of hopelessness that whispers death as the only solution. The enemy wants to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came so that you may have life, and have it abundantly.

First, we must address the gravity of what you’ve expressed. The Bible makes it clear that life is sacred and a gift from God (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:13-16). Taking one’s own life is not God’s will, and we must stand against that lie with the truth of Scripture. You are not a burden, you are a child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made, and He has a purpose for you, even in this suffering (Jeremiah 29:11). The pain you feel now is real, but it is not the end of your story.

We also want to gently but firmly remind you that salvation and hope are found only in Jesus Christ. If you have not already, we urge you to surrender your life to Him, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6), and He alone can bring true peace to your soul. If you’ve never prayed to receive Him, we encourage you to cry out to Him now: "Lord Jesus, I need You. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Forgive me, come into my life, and be my Savior and Lord. Help me to trust You in my pain. Amen."

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother who is suffering. Lord, You see his pain, his fear, and his despair. We ask that You would wrap Your arms around him and remind him that he is not alone. Break the chains of hopelessness, Father, and replace them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Strengthen his mind and spirit, and help him to cling to You in this storm.

We pray for his mother, Lord. Give her wisdom, patience, and the resources to care for her son. Provide a way forward that does not leave him abandoned or afraid. Open doors for housing, medical care, and community support. Surround him with believers who can walk alongside him, encourage him, and remind him of Your love.

Father, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell him death is the only escape. Remind him that You are the God of hope (Romans 15:13) and that Your plans for him are for good, not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11). Heal his mind, Lord, and fill him with Your joy and purpose. Help him to see himself as You see him, precious, valued, and deeply loved.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who conquered sin and death so that we might live. Amen.

Friend, we know this road is hard, but you do not have to walk it alone. Reach out to your church, to Christian counselors, or to organizations that can help with mental health and housing. God has not forgotten you, and He will provide a way. Keep fighting, keep praying, and keep holding on to Jesus. He is your hope, your strength, and your future.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
