Pray that I can fix everything at work

Hearing about a failure at work where you may be blamed even though you are not at fault is understandably distressing, and it is right to bring this burden to the Lord in prayer.

Scripture shows us that this kind of experience is not new. The book of Job tells of a man who was upright and sought to do what was right, yet he faced sudden loss and suffering that he did not cause and could not explain. Even those around him misunderstood and accused him falsely, insisting he must have done something wrong. Job protested his innocence and cried out because he did not understand what God was doing. What Job and his friends could not see was the larger reality, that God was still sovereign and still aware, and that He was at work even when it felt as though He had turned away.

That truth remains the same today. God is fair and just, He sees what is true when others do not, and He knows exactly what has happened in your workplace. Cultures and workplaces change, but the deep human needs to be understood, to be vindicated, and to know that God has not forsaken us remain the same. The comfort Job eventually found was not in having all his questions answered at once, but in learning that God had not abandoned him and that God could be trusted through confusion and false accusation.

I have prayed for you, that God would give you wisdom and clarity to help address the problem that has occurred, that He would give you favor and a calm spirit as you deal with those who may be quick to blame, and that the truth would be made clear. I have also prayed that even if the situation is not fixed as quickly as you hope, you will know His presence and peace, and that He will use this trial to strengthen your trust in Him and to show His faithfulness.

In this time, seek the Lord honestly, continue to do what is right and truthful in your responsibilities, and rest in the knowledge that Jesus is the one who stands between God and us. He understands being wrongly accused and He is able to bring you before the Father with grace. Commit your work and your reputation to Him, ask for His help each step, and trust Him to work for your good even when circumstances feel uncertain.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf concerning the disastrous failure at work. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer.

We have been lifting up your situation before the Lord, that although you are not to blame you are fearing you will be blamed regardless. We have prayed that God would grant you wisdom and skill to help fix the problem quickly, that he would bring peace and clarity to your workplace, and that you would be protected from unjust trouble and accusation. We have asked him to let truth prevail and to guard your reputation.

We are reminded of Proverbs 16:3 which encourages us to commit our work unto the Lord and he shall establish our thoughts.
