Pray that God breaks every foolish unwanted declaration/vow/pact/covenant/ etc.

The threat of disease dangling before you is a chain rattled by the enemy, not a decree from heaven. You see, the call of God does not come with such extortion. When He called Matthew from his tax booth, the man did not haggle or say, "Let me first see if this calling is a deceit." He left his gain and his old life straightway, exhibiting a mind prepared for all things. The obedience that springs from faith is immediate and unforced; it does not wait to be flogged forward by curses of fever or plague. A demand that forces you to move from fear, threatening calamity if you refuse, bears no resemblance to the voice of the Good Shepherd. So do not pay the enemy the compliment of believing his threats possess any real substance. What power has a shadow to bind flesh and blood?

The true binding that needs your attention is not some declared pact hanging over your head, but the binding of your own heart. We are not in physical chains, but there are yet other bonds. Bind your heart and mind with the truth. The labor is great, I will not lie to you, for it requires a deliberate will to alter the turn of mind, to tear up error by the roots, and to plant the truth in its place. When your thoughts run wild toward those old foolish words, do not sit and parley with them as if they had authority. Seek the Lord as one seeks lost gold, with concentrated mind, enquiring of the Scriptures, traveling from the distraction of your home into the chamber of prayer. A candid heart, free from vice and with uncorrupted judgment, is easily persuaded by the words of truth and will not be offended by the struggle. That pull you feel to repeat the folly is the very thing you must fight by filling your mind with something greater, that you may be perfectly joined together in the same mind and the same judgment with Christ.

Do not say within yourself, "I have but one talent, I am too weak and my mind is too clouded to resist." This is a false humility that leads to sloth. You are not poorer than the widow with her two mites, nor more uninstructed than the unlearned fishermen who turned the world upside down. Contribute the diligence of which you are capable. Bring your troubled mind to God and leave it there in prayer. Nothing is so pleasing to Him as to live for the common advantage, and your peace and stability are for the advantage of the whole body. Seek that harmony of mind which is with Christ, and you will find that the false decrees of darkness shatter against it. The enemy pushes you to declare the chains unbreakable, but this is the final gasp of a liar. The One Lawgiver has established the covenant of freedom. Stand in that, and the spectral bonds will prove to be no bonds at all.

Your struggle is not against flesh and blood. The pressure you feel, the threats of sickness if you fail to perform certain acts or repeat certain words, that is a direct attempt to push you back into bondage, to replace the freedom of the Spirit with a yoke of fear. But you must remember: having begun in the Spirit, are you now to be perfected by the flesh? Any voice that demands you make these declarations to avoid disease has bewitched you from the simplicity of the gospel. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the heart of our faith, and that same power that raised Him from the dead has already broken every curse and every chain. No foolish vow you spoke in a moment of weakness can stand against the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. By him, and him alone, you are made whole.

Do not let the enemy convince you that your safety lies in some ritual or verbal formula. That is exactly the kind of thinking the apostles fought against when they declared that salvation and protection are found only in the finished work of Christ. You are not under the law of those pacts. The decree from heaven is that Jesus came to bless you by turning you away from your iniquities, not by binding you tighter to them through fear of illness. Your iniquities bring the curse, but Jesus has taken that curse upon himself. He has led captivity captive. So when the threat says you will get some disease unless you do this or say that, you can answer with the truth: God raised Jesus from the dead, and that resurrection power has severed the hold of every destructive word you ever uttered.

Do not be afraid of physical death. The far graver reality is spiritual death, a conscience separated from God, with no thought of Him. But you are not there. You are turning to the Lord, crying out for a cleared mind and a released will. That very desire is evidence of the Spirit at work in you. The Lord knows the boundaries of your life. He has set them so that you would seek Him and find Him. Even now, He may be cutting off distractions, even painful ones, to help you filter out every voice but His. When Peter stood before the healed man, he did not lean on his own education or cleverness; he simply declared what the Spirit had impressed on his heart. In the same way, when you feel the pull to make those pacts again, stop and ask the Spirit to fill your mind with Scripture instead. Hide in your heart the truth that you are a son or daughter of God, being restored into His image. The one who is in you is greater than the one who pressures you from outside.

The early church faced threats, too. They did not buckle. They reported everything to the Lord and to one another, then continued in gladness and singleness of heart, breaking bread from house to house. They knew their identity flowed from the resurrection, not from human approval or from escaping every trouble. So when these threats come, do not isolate yourself. Bring them into the light with trusted believers, and let them pray with you. The enemy’s power withers in the fellowship of the saints.

As for the things you foolishly said, God is not a tyrant waiting to enforce a trap you set for yourself in ignorance. He is a Father who hears your cry. By the authority of the risen Christ, those declarations are broken and annulled. You do not need to fulfill them. You do not need to fear them. If your conscience still trembles, then pray this: “Lord, I renounce every word I spoke that was not in accordance with Your will. I place my life under the covering of Jesus’ blood. I declare that no weapon, no curse, no disease, no threat, formed against me shall prosper.” And then let the peace of Christ rule in your heart. If a particular action is not required by God’s righteous law of love, you are free to leave it behind. You do not need to beg for peace about doing it; you need to walk away from it in the confidence that Christ has already broken it.

I join my faith with yours now: In the name of Jesus, we command every spirit of fear and intimidation to depart. We break every unwanted covenant, vow, and pact, and we declare that they have no more claim over your mind or body. We ask the Lord to fill you with a sound mind and a deep, settled peace. May you go forward, not looking back, knowing that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you and holds you secure.

We are so grateful that you entrusted us with this heavy burden, and we have been lifting you up daily before the throne of grace. We continue to stand in agreement with you, declaring that every ungodly word, vow, or covenant spoken over your life is broken and nullified in the mighty name of Jesus. We pray that the power of these threats would be completely dismantled, and that no weapon formed against you would prosper.

Father, we ask that You would surround this dear one with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give them clarity and strength to resist every pull toward fear or compromise. If there are steps they must take, we pray for Your wisdom and grace to walk in obedience without hesitation. If these declarations are meant to be broken, we declare them already shattered by the blood of Jesus—no longer having any hold or authority.

We also pray for the source of this oppression. Lord, expose any darkness at work and bring it into the light. Let Your truth prevail, and let Your love and righteousness be the final word. We stand on Your promise that no evil will befall those who trust in You, and we declare victory over this situation in Jesus’ name.

If the battle is still raging, please let us know so we can continue to intercede on your behalf. And if God has already moved in a powerful way, we would love to hear your praise report so we can rejoice with you. Either way, we are here with you, believing that God is working even now for your good and His glory. May He bless you with His presence, peace, and power as you keep your eyes fixed on Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
