Pray request for my grandson studying medicine

Anonymous

Beloved of All
My grandson is having bad time studying med school. His grades are so bad that he didn’t approve this semester class. He’s trying hard because he has been a jvery good student during all his life. He is responsible and do not use his time making things that doesn’t help him to be a good student. He is depressed and feels bad about his parents. He feels ashamed and is thinking to leave. His parents are doctors but he is studying by himself always. I have faith that God listens and makes him feel good and confident of himself. He’s always been excellent student but in med school things are going bad. Hope everything comes good for him and he feels better and confident about himself. In Jesus name. Amen and thank you Jesus for what you is going to do.

We join you in lifting up your grandson before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for your faithful intercession for him and for your trust that God hears and answers prayer in Jesus' name.

We understand how heavy this burden is for him. He has been diligent and responsible all his life and now to face failure in medical school after always being an excellent student must feel crushing. The shame he feels before his parents and the thoughts of giving up and leaving show how deep his discouragement and depression have become. Medical school is an immense challenge and even the most gifted students can struggle, and his worth is not measured by one semester or one class. We are encouraged that he is trying hard and using his time wisely, and we pray that he will see himself as God sees him.

Scripture reminds us that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. We also hear the Lord say, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. When anxiety and shame press in, we are told, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

We pray together for him now.

Father in heaven, we bring this precious young man before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, through whom we have access to You. Lord, You see his diligence, his responsibility, his disappointment and his shame. Lift this heaviness from him and replace it with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Remind him that his identity and confidence are not in grades but in being Your child, created and loved by You. Strengthen his mind for his studies, grant him wisdom, clarity, and understanding as he prepares again. Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. Proverbs 16:3. Help him to commit all his work to You and to work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Colossians 3:23. Comfort his heart toward his parents, remove shame, and help them to surround him with grace, encouragement, and understanding. If it is Your will for him to continue in medicine, give him perseverance and renewed confidence, and if You have another path, make it clear to him. We trust that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28. Restore his hope and joy and let him feel Your presence upholding him each day. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to speak life and truth over him, to remind him that one difficult semester does not define his future and that God can use even setbacks for good. Encourage him to share openly with his parents and with trusted mentors or counselors at his school, to seek help for his discouragement, and to bring every worry to the Lord in prayer. We are praying with you that God will renew his confidence, restore his peace, and guide his steps in the days ahead.

We are grateful you brought your grandson to us in prayer, and we hear how much you love him and believe in him.

It makes sense that this has hit him so hard. He has always been a diligent, excellent student, and medical school is a very different kind of pressure. Even students who have excelled their whole lives can find the workload and the expectations overwhelming, and one difficult semester does not erase years of faithfulness and hard work. When shame sets in it is easy to hear "I am a failure" instead of "I had a hard semester," and that voice can make him want to pull away from his parents and even consider leaving.

Your steady confidence in him matters more than you may know. Continuing to let him know he is loved and valued apart from grades, listening without rushing to fix, and reminding him of the effort he is already giving can help quiet that shame.

Alongside prayer, if his discouragement and low mood continue, we gently encourage helping him connect with someone to talk with in person, whether a trusted counselor, doctor, or advisor at his school, and his parents when he is ready. You do not need to carry this alone either, so keep sharing with others who can support you both.

Father, we lift this grandson to You and ask You to draw near to him in this heavy season. Give him rest, clear thinking, and a renewed sense of Your care for him. Comfort his heart where he feels ashamed, and help him know he is not alone. Give his grandmother wisdom to encourage him well, and guide his next steps with peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in bringing this burden before the throne of grace, and we thank you for your faith that God hears prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.

Your grandson has long known success and diligence, and now to face failure in his studies has brought a heavy shame upon him. It is a painful place to be, to have labored faithfully and yet to see no fruit, to feel the disappointment of those he loves, and to think of turning aside from the path before him. Such shame and discouragement are felt deeply, especially by a sensitive and responsible heart.

Yet we would remind you and him of this truth, that all confidence placed in ourselves must at last fail us. If any man hopes to stand by his own strength, his own intellect, or his own record as a good student, that hope will prove to be no hope at all. There is no hope whatever by it. But though there is no hope in ourselves, there is hope in Jesus Christ. When a man is weaned from looking to the flesh for help and is brought to see that he cannot save or sustain himself, then there is hope for him, for he may look to One who will not fail.

Scripture teaches us to pray, Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek Thy name, O Lord. Shame is a very desirable thing if it drives a soul to God. When a man has lost his good opinion of himself, when he feels he has failed before others, that very shame has often driven him to flee to Christ. Our Lord Jesus Himself knew what it was to bear shame and spitting, to be despised and rejected, and He endured it for our sake. Our shame is ended, for He has borne it, and there is merit enough in His precious work to put away all our sin and to give us a standing before God that no examination can shake.

We also take comfort that Christ's work is no failure. Though hope from man may utterly fail, He will not fail nor be discouraged. He who became a servant to do all the Father's will shall accomplish His purpose, and while His Word stands, the door of hope is open. If your grandson will turn to this stronghold, he will find himself a prisoner of hope, not a prisoner without hope in a pit with no water. We are saved in hope, and this hope consists in belief, desire, and expectancy toward God. He never inspires a hope which shall put His people to shame.

Therefore we pray for your grandson in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father.

Our Father in heaven, we come to Thee through Jesus Christ Thy Son, who bore our shame and who alone is our foundation. We ask Thee to look in mercy upon this young man. Thou knowest his diligence, his depression, his sense of shame before his parents and before Thee. Lift his countenance and give him peace that rests not in grades or in the opinion of men, but in Christ. Deliver him from despair and from the thought that there is no hope for him. Teach him that his worth is not in his performance, but in being found in Thy Son. Grant him clarity of mind, strength to labor faithfully, humility to seek help where it is needed, and wisdom to know whether to press forward or to wait. Comfort his heart, restore to him a quiet confidence in Thy good providence, and let this trial drive him to seek Thy name more earnestly. Sustain his parents and his grandmother as they love him and uphold him in prayer. We ask that Thou wouldst render help and hope to him even this day, and that he may with patience wait for what he sees not yet. In Jesus name we ask it, Amen.

Be encouraged to continue in prayer for him. Let not your feelings fly in the teeth of God's promises, but hope on. God hears the prayer that comes through Christ, and He is able to give a hope that does not make ashamed. Encourage your grandson to cast his burden upon the Lord, to seek counsel openly and not to bear this shame alone, and to remember that the Lord looks not as man looks upon outward success, but upon the heart that trusts in Him.
