Pray I Speak In Tongues

Lord plz help me understand how to speak in tongues I did it once long time ago but I really want to start again cos I'm hoping to be a prayer leader so lord and anybody reading this poo ray for me I get this in Jesus name amen

For me...I was not raised in this arena....In fact my father would say the gifts at pentecost remained there. ANd truth be told, I cried out to God about a year ago....praying scriptures over myself that pertained to the gifts of the holy spirit. AND I BEGGED GOD..."fill me with the holy spirit bestow on me all of the gifts You would have for my EXCEPT For speaking of tongues. Don't understand it, don't want it, thank you God." Funny thing is I was led to study scripture over it. Every lessson I would randomly catch would have something about the santity of tonques. And low and behold I got this wonderful teaching by Robert Morris of "the blessed Life" and one of the last studies on the cd was about being annointed by the holy spirit. HE joked about how it wasn't going to just seize you without your will in some random place, that you had to actually open up your lips and throat...that you have to start to move your muscles IN FAITH and that the holy spirit would lead them. I remember sitting in a parked car thinking how silly I must look, but knowing that God had placed a stirring in me. A year later, I find myself drawn to pray in the spirit OFTEN. I probably prayed in the spirit 30 minutes a day for the first 30 days. It was like God was saying here I am, you need this gift whether you want it or not. And now....I know when the holy spirit is leading me to pray in tongues. It's no longer random and I'm faithful....even if i have to pray in tongues in a whisper. Guess I'm possible risking ridicle by others of this forum who don't believe in or understand tongues. I won't even go as far as to say I understand tongues, but I OBEY The father's calling without question.

HOLY FATHER, GOD ABOVE ALL GODS. WE THANK YOU FOR THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST WHICH MAKES US HOLY IN YOUR SIGHT. LORD, YOUR WORD PROMISES US THAT IF WE ASK FOR WISDOM IT SHALL BE GIVEN. LORD, YOU CHILD IS ASKING TO BE BATHED IN THE HOLY SPIRIT. MAY HE CONFESS HIS SINS TO YOU. MAY HE CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS HIS LORD AND SAVIOR. LORD, GIVE HIM THE WISDOM TO KNOW WHAT YOUR CALLING IS FOR HIM TODAY. YOUR WORD TELLS US THAT THE HOLY SPIRITS GIVES OUT HIS GIFTS TO WHOM HE CHOOSES. LORD, MAY HE CALL OUT TO YOUR HOLY SPIRIT FOR A FRESH ANNOINTING. MAY THE HOLY SPIRIT FILL HIM IN WAYS BEYOND HIS UNDERSTANDING. IF IT BE YOUR WILL THAT HE RECIEVE THIS GIFT, GIVE IT TO HIM LORD SO THAT HE MAY BE EDIFIED IN YOU. Romans 8:26 says that the Holy Spirit has been sent to help us pray correctly, “...for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.†gIVE HIM THIS GIFT SO THAT HE MAY PRAY IN THE WAY HE OUGHT. IN JESUS NAME WE COME BEFORE YOUR HOLLY THRONE. AMEN.

Antoher thing to remember....you must be faithful in small things before he will grant you big things. I have had to learn/relearn this one many a time. Be faithful when God's puts something one your heart....even if you think it's crazy (or that other's would percieve it as so). And spend time with him everyday....I'm not talking about reading the bible daily (although that is a GREAT place to START). I'm talking about worshipping him DAILY. Sing to him, praise him, sit and wate for him. Do you desire to give a child a gift if they are constantly asking for something? Perhaps. (But I tend to avoid beggards myself ) But the child who wants to spend time with his father, to enjoy his company.....that's the child whose father LONGS to give him gifts.



May the Holy Spirit guide you and direct you in the way you should go. MAy your desire to spend time with God be so strong that you cannot refuse him. May his grace and holy spirit completely consume you!!!! God bless you child of God

Hey Jason,

Praying for you. I know Christians disagree on spiritual gifts. But you need to understand that nowhere in the Bible does God promise every believer will speak in tongues. Its a gift he's given to some believers, but to many he's given other gifts. The Church is like a body- it needs all sorts of different parts with different gifts to function. I'd encourage you to read 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14 for teaching on spiritual gifts. God will give you this gift if that's part of his plan. But focus on building up faith, hope and love.
