Pray for ###

Disciple of Prayer
My husband suffers from ###. He is currently in a ### and frequently argues with strangers (including me). Living together is extremely difficult. He often stays up late watching TV, and the volume and light from the TV are affecting my sleep. He also frequently makes loud phone calls. I have a job, and his frequent phone calls cause me a lot of anxiety. He is eager to make some major decisions, including applying for a house mortgage. I can't pray and no strength. Please pray for me.

We hear your heartache and exhaustion, dear sister in Christ, and we lift you up before the Lord with deep compassion. Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect His love and unity, yet we know the enemy seeks to disrupt and destroy what God has joined together. Your husband’s struggles with anger, late-night habits, and the strain they place on your marriage and well-being are not what God intends for His children. We stand with you in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in this situation.

First, we must address the spiritual battle at hand. The Bible warns us in Ephesians 4:26-27, "Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil." The arguments and discord in your home are giving the enemy a foothold, and we must rebuke that influence in Jesus’ name. We also see the importance of rest and peace in your life, as Psalm 127:2 reminds us, "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones." Your need for rest is valid, and we pray for God’s protection over your sleep and peace in your home.

We also lift up your husband’s condition before the Lord, asking for healing and transformation. Proverbs 15:1 says, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." We pray that God would soften his heart and help him to see the impact of his actions on you and your marriage. His eagerness to make major decisions, like applying for a mortgage, must be tempered with wisdom and unity. Amos 3:3 asks, "Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?" It is crucial that you and your husband seek God’s will together before making such significant commitments.

We also want to gently address the strain this is placing on your own spiritual walk. When we are drained and overwhelmed, it can be difficult to pray or find strength, but remember that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us even when we don’t have the words. Romans 8:26 assures us, "In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered." You are not alone in this struggle, and we pray that God would renew your strength and fill you with His peace.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this sister and her marriage to You. Lord, we ask for Your healing and restoration in her husband’s life. Soften his heart, calm his spirit, and help him to see the impact of his actions on his wife and their marriage. We rebuke the spirit of anger and discord in their home, and we ask for Your peace to fill every corner of their lives.

Father, we pray for this sister’s strength and rest. Protect her sleep, ease her anxiety, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help her to find moments of quiet with You, even in the midst of this storm. Renew her spirit and remind her that You are her refuge and strength.

Lord, we ask for wisdom and unity in their marriage. Guide them in making decisions together, especially regarding their future. Help them to seek Your will above all else and to walk in agreement as they move forward.

We declare that this marriage is under Your protection, and we stand against any schemes of the enemy to divide them. We pray for a spirit of humility, love, and patience to reign in their home. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through your pastor, a trusted Christian mentor, or a biblical counselor. Marriage is worth fighting for, and we believe that God can bring healing and restoration to your home. Keep pressing into Him, even when it feels difficult. You are not alone, and we are standing with you in prayer.

We’re so sorry this is where you are right now. What you’re carrying, the constant noise at night, the anxiety that follows you into your workday, and the crushing sense that you can’t even pray, is not a small thing. When sleep keeps getting stolen night after night, everything else gets harder too. It’s not a spiritual failure to feel empty when your body and mind are that worn down. Sleep is one of the ways God restores us, and when it’s disrupted, our whole sense of well-being frays. So please don’t add guilt about prayer to the weight you’re already bearing. Right now, letting others hold you up before God is enough. That’s what we’re doing, and we’re glad you asked.

One practical thing may help: find a small way to protect your rest tonight, even if it’s just earplugs and a sleep mask. Your need for quiet and darkness is real, not selfish. If the sleep deprivation is deepening your anxiety or making it hard to function, we’d also gently encourage you to let a doctor know what you’re going through, not because something is wrong with you, but because prolonged exhaustion takes a physical toll that deserves attention alongside prayer.

We’re asking God to hold you steady right now, and to give you wisdom for the immediate moments, what to step toward and what to let go of right now.

Lord Jesus, this wife is utterly spent. Meet her in the exhaustion where she has no words. Be her shelter when home feels like a battlefield and her sleep is broken. Calm the anxiety that follows her through the day, and give her clear, practical wisdom for the decisions pressing in around her. Protect her mind and body, and if it’s Your will, bring a change in her husband’s heart and circumstances. But most of all, hold her close and let her feel that she is not alone. In Your name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your present trial is a heavy one, and my heart aches for you as you describe the sleepless nights, the constant arguments, and the weight of anxiety that presses upon your soul. It is no small thing to live in a house where peace is shattered by loud voices and the glaring light of the television, where your husband’s restless spirit sets your own nerves on edge. You feel your strength ebbing away, and you confess you cannot even pray. Yet it is precisely for such real need that our Lord Jesus came. He did nothing for show, nothing for mere custom, but everything to work solid good and erase real evil. Not a motion of His finger does He make for feigned or fancied grievance, all His power goes forth to those who have true need of healing. Your need is not hidden from Him; the weariness that makes you feel you cannot lift a cry is itself a cry that reaches His ear.

You say you have no strength. That is a hard place, but it is the very threshold where faith may obtain the blessing, for out of weakness His people are made strong. The promise is not for those who think themselves mighty, but for those who wait upon the Lord. They shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles. Do not despise your weakness, bring it to the One who gives power to the faint. If you cannot form a prayer, let your heart beat out its longing in silence; the Spirit Himself intercedes with groanings too deep for words. Even now, in the flutter of anxiety that makes you mistake bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter, the Lord is near. He would have you cast your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Your husband’s eagerness to make major decisions, like a house mortgage, in such a tempest of mind is a grave concern. When the ship is tossed by waves and the crew is quarreling, it is no time to chart a new course. Beware of being driven by restlessness into a snare that will only add heavier chains. Wait upon the Lord for clear direction. Anxiety will whisper that you must act at once, but the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle. Trust God to order your steps, even when your husband’s mind races ahead. Your part, often, is a quiet and patient endurance that God can use to calm the storm.

As for the nightly disturbances and the loud calls that steal your sleep and fill your workday with dread, these are real afflictions, and the God who counts the stars and calls them by name is not indifferent to the tossings of your bed. Perhaps you will never have the strength to change your husband, but you may look to the Lord to give you strength enough for the hour. He is the glory of your strength, and He can make you a peacemaker in your own home by the quiet power of grace. Does not the promise say, “The expectation of the poor shall not perish forever”? Yours is a poor, needy case, but it is not forgotten in heaven. There is a Helper who is coming, and He is already present by His Spirit.

In the covenant of marriage, you are bound to this man, and though the shadow of a blessing unrealized hangs heavy, the Lord remains faithful. He is married unto His people in infinite tenderness; lean on that love when human affection fails. Your husband’s soul is indeed in a sad plight, arguing with strangers and with you, driven by a restless spirit that may have a devil at its root, yet Jesus healed those who had need of healing, even those possessed with a dumb spirit, unable to cry out for mercy. Why should He not heal your home? Trust Him for that, and while you wait, ask for daily bread of patience and for sleep that comes as a gift from His hand. I join with you in supplication, though I am only a sinner saved by grace, and together we may believe that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ.

You feel you have no strength, that you cannot even pray. This very state can become your prayer. When the woman of Canaan cried out, she did not say, "Entreat and beseech," but simply, "Help me." Her shamelessness became her confidence. Do the same. Cry out from the depth of your need, and He will respect your insistence.

Your husband’s behavior is like a man sleeping while awake, full of dreams that are not reality. The noise, the late hours, the rash plans for a mortgage, these are the visions of one drunk with the passions of this life, not with wine alone, but with vice that makes the soul see phantoms instead of truth. Yet you are called to watch and be sober. Do not let his turmoil pull you into the same darkness. For to shut the eyes of the soul and sleep the sleep of wickedness is our own choice; it is in your power to have it be day within you, even when the house is full of night.

When he argues and brings you anxiety, remember what I have said of the insolent man: he is held subject to a dreadful monster, the demon of anger, and is going quickly to ruin. We pity those who are possessed and strike us. So do not return storm for storm. This is not to say his actions are of no account, but that your peace is not dependent on his change. You guard your own foot from being moved. For God has said, "Do not suffer thy foot to be moved." The suffering depends on yourself.

You worry about the future and the decisions he wants to make. But hear the apostle: "My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness." This is what the Lord says to you now. He knows that in this way, through what seems like vulnerability, you will become invincible to the attacks on your soul. Do not despond. The anxiety you feel about the things that are not evil in themselves, like a mortgage, can be laid aside. For those things have no strength to injure you, unless you give them power through your fear. Eat, sleep, and work with a conscience that asks no question, committing all to God.

I urge you, do not think that great heroic works are your only path. Should you remain without food or sleep upon the ground and yet lament without turning your heart, it would profit nothing. The great work here is to offer your helplessness itself. Watch in the midst of this trial. The prison keeper found salvation not by strength, but in the moment of utter panic he fell at the feet of the prisoner and cried, "What must I do to be saved?" Your very anxiety can become that cry. Only ask, and do not stop asking, "Help me." For He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and the doors of your prison will be opened.

You can't pray right now, and you have no strength left. That is not a failure on your part. It is the honest condition of someone who has been drained to the bottom. Think of the moment when Jacob, utterly exhausted, laid his head on a stone and slept. He had nothing to offer God but his weariness. And in that sleep, God met him with a ladder planted on earth reaching to heaven, the Lord standing above it. Prayer does not begin with our eloquence or our energy. It begins with a God who stoops down to those who are too tired to reach up.

What you described is a home filled with noise, conflict, sleeplessness, and anxiety about major decisions. Every one of those things presses in on you until you feel crushed. You need a refuge, a strong habitation into which you can continually flee. The Lord is that place. A shepherd once said, even without knowing the Scriptures, "I am the door; no sheep can get out and no wolf can get in except it cross over me." Right now you feel like a sheep that can't find rest, and the wolf of exhaustion and fear is circling. But Jesus Himself is the door. When you can't pray long prayers, a simple cry from the heart is heard just as clearly. The prayer that says, "God be merciful to me, I have no strength left," is the kind that reaches His ear immediately. Length of prayer is never what moves His heart; it is the honest, desperate turning toward Him.

Your husband's eagerness about a mortgage and other major decisions is weighing on you heavily. That is a real concern. When you do come before God, even with a few whispered words, pray something like this: "Lord, give him Your judgments. Let his decisions reflect Your desires, not impulse or confusion. Guide my own steps and give me wisdom." That is a prayer David prayed for his son, and it is exactly right for your situation. It puts the matter back into God's hands where it belongs.

I know you may have been praying about this for a long time and nothing seems to change. The noise persists. The arguments keep happening. Your sleep is still broken. When prayer seems to bring nothing down, the temptation is to think God isn't listening. But silence is not absence. Keep the window open toward Him, just as Daniel did when he knew the decree could cost him his life. He prayed anyway, toward Jerusalem, three times a day. Yours may not be three long sessions. It may be a brief, quiet turning of your heart while you lie in bed at night, while you sit at your desk at work, while you take a deep breath in the middle of chaos. Continue in prayer. Don't give up. And pair that with watchfulness and responsible action. Nehemiah prayed, but he also set a watch. Prayer is never an excuse to neglect wise, practical steps. If the TV volume and light are harming your sleep, it is not unspiritual to ask for a reasonable boundary or to take steps to protect your rest. You need your strength, and God cares about your physical needs even as He cares for your soul.

When you have no words, the prayer can simply be worship. A silent awareness of His greatness. You can rest in the fact that the purpose of prayer is not to force your will on the situation but to see His will done, and His will for you right now includes peace in the storm, not necessarily the instant removal of the storm. He will not violate anyone's will, but your yielded heart opens the door for Him to do what He has been wanting to do all along. One day, perhaps soon, you will look back and see that He sustained you moment by moment.

Right now, your prayer may be as short as David's: "Make haste, O Lord, to help me." That is enough. End it with a quiet praise, not because the problem is solved, but because you trust He has heard. The very act of praising before you see the answer is faith. You are not alone, and your weakness is not a barrier to His power. Breathe, rest in Him, and take one small step of trust at a time.
