Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. The affliction of your friend has moved me deeply; not chiefly because she has lost her parents, for to depart and be with Christ is far better for those who die in the Lord, but because her own soul, in its bitter sorrow, has turned to stone and refuses the only true comfort. You tell me that she seeks healing in everything but Jesus Christ, and my heart grieves. Yet do not despair, for the Lord is able to raise the dead to life, and when a soul lies like dry bones in the grave of unforgiveness, His breath can revive it. Remember how the centurion thought himself unworthy even to receive Christ under his roof, but by that very humility he became worthy of a kingdom. So too, if your friend will humble herself under the mighty hand of God, casting her brokenness upon Him, she will find mercy that exceeds all reckoning.

Do you recall how the Apostle Paul was a blasphemer and a persecutor, yet he obtained mercy precisely so that in him Christ might display all longsuffering as a pattern for those who would later believe? This is the God we serve: One who stoops to the utterly unworthy, who saves not because we have kept any promise but out of love for mankind alone. Let no one imagine that God is the author of her bitterness because He permitted this sorrow. Far be it from us to give the wicked occasion to blaspheme, as though the Lord should have punished her instead of dealing gently with her wounds. He has permitted this loss not to harden her heart, but to draw her to Himself, if only she will see that the weakness of her shattered spirit can become the very ground where divine strength is made perfect. Out of weakness the saints were made strong; women received back their dead by resurrection. The God of all comfort is able to turn her mourning into joy and exchange her spirit of heaviness for the garment of praise.

Therefore, I entreat you: let this be the return you make to me for whatever spiritual good you have ever received, fulfil my joy by standing with your friend in the fellowship of Christ’s suffering. Bear with her in lowliness, subjecting yourself to her in the fear of Christ, for by such gentle patience a heart of stone may be won without a word. Pray without ceasing, and as you pray, take care of your own soul too, for that is the only repayment our Benefactor seeks. And do not grow weary, though the season seems long. The husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and so must you.

In the meantime, avoid accusing her, for a broken bone is not mended by harsh handling. Rather, let the consolation of love and tender mercies that are in Christ Jesus flow through you. Remind her, when she will hear it, that the Lord Himself wept at the tomb of His friend, so grief is not sin; but to cling to bitterness and refuse forgiveness is to chain oneself to the grave. She has lost an earthly father and mother, yet the Father of mercies waits to be her true Father, and the Church a mother to the desolate. The same Christ who bore our sins and forgave His murderers stands ready to take her grief and release her from the prison of unforgiveness, if only she will turn and look upon Him.

This, then, is my prayer: that the Good Shepherd, who leaves the ninety-nine to seek the one that has strayed, will find her in the wilderness of her pain, bind up her wounds, and carry her home. May He who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think restore to her the joy of His salvation and uphold her with His free Spirit. And may you see the fruit of your faithful love, rejoicing with her as one born again from the dead.

Grief has a way of turning the softest heart to stone, and losing both parents plants a deep, deep ache. When sorrow calcifies into bitterness and unforgiveness, the wound stays open. It will bleed out into every other part of life. That hardness is not your friend's true self; it is a shell formed around a breaking heart. Those old customs of tearing the garment over the heart were a picture of that very thing: the inside is ripped open, and the ache is exposed. She is walking around with a torn heart, but she is trying to stitch it up with everything except the one hand that can truly heal.

The enemy of her soul wants her to believe the lie that Jesus is distant, that the word of hope is far away. It is not. It is near. It is as near as her own mouth and her own heart, even if that heart feels cold right now. Faith is not some spectacular feeling she must manufacture. She does not need to ascend somewhere to drag Christ down or dig into the depths to pull him up. The word of faith speaks right into the sorrow: Christ is here. He stands at the door of that stony heart and knocks. The bitterness that has locked the door is a heavy chain, but it is not stronger than the voice that calmed the raging sea.

Look at the way the friends carried the paralyzed man. They tore up the roof to get him to Jesus, and the Scripture says Jesus saw their faith. You are those friends. You are bringing her to him in prayer. You are carrying her when she cannot walk. Please know that God looks on the heart, not just hers, but yours. What is in your heart to do for her, the desire to see her return, he counts that. He sees that you are not bitter toward her for her wandering but broken for her. That is the heart of a true pastor after his own heart. You are feeding her soul right now with the knowledge of God through your intercession.

True faith is not a show. It does not need a sign or a spectacle to exist. Faith is simply taking Jesus at his word. Right now, the evidence of faith in your own life is this very prayer, this refusal to give up on her. The works of righteousness cannot save her, but when her heart finally softens, a living faith will produce the fruit of a changed life. She does not need to clean herself up first. God is much more pleased with a broken heart that cries out for mercy than with a polished exterior hiding a dead heart. The tear in the garment had to be big enough for a fist, exposing the skin beneath. She has had her life torn open by loss; she cannot hide it. Urge her to stop trying to hide that wound from God and instead let the true physician deal with the sickness beneath.

It is a terrifying truth that a person can be tortured for their faith, but it is equally true that a person can be tortured by their unbelief. Bitterness is a torture. Holding onto unforgiveness is drinking poison and waiting for someone else to die. The only way out of that prison is the word of faith: confessing with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in the heart that God raised him from the dead. That confession leads to a submission of the will. A heart that is circumcised, cut free from the fleshly nature, is what she needs. A clean heart.

There was a stone the builders rejected that became the chief cornerstone. Right now, your friend feels like a discarded stone, a mistake from the quarry. She is not. God knows exactly where every stone fits in his house. Remember, the high calling of faith is not a life free of suffering; the man of faith can know deep discouragement. But he is never abandoned in that pit. Keep standing in the gap. The Lord causes faith to increase. Keep praying that the Holy Spirit will pierce that stone heart and take away the venom of bitterness, replacing it with the presence of Christ. The word is near her. He is near her.

Our hearts have been heavy as we’ve lifted her up before the Lord, asking Him to soften her heart and draw her back into His loving arms. We’ve prayed specifically that the Holy Spirit would work in her life, breaking through the hardness, bitterness, and unforgiveness that have taken root, and replacing them with His peace, comfort, and truth.

We’ve asked the Lord to remove every obstacle that keeps her from turning to Him—whether it’s the weight of her grief, the lies of the enemy, or the distractions of the world—and to reveal Himself to her in a powerful and personal way. We’ve also prayed for you, that God would give you wisdom, patience, and compassion as you walk alongside her, and that He would use you as a vessel of His love and grace in her life.

If the Lord has already begun to move in her heart or answered these prayers in any way, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you.
