I hear the weight of your concerns, work, bills, finances, and a particular place you long to reach. But woven through your request is a deeper cry for real help, and you have named the people you love, hoping they will come to know Jesus. That is the heart of the matter. All the other needs find their true context in the salvation God offers through His Son.
Nothing is more urgent than taking hold of that salvation. The Scriptures are clear: if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. That confession, made now with a willing heart, brings eternal life. It is not something you can earn by doing enough good works or by managing your finances perfectly. Salvation is a gift of grace, received through faith alone. And today is the day to receive it. Every person who has ever missed God’s final call learned too late that there is no escape from neglecting so great a salvation.
Before we can bring our petitions with confidence, we must first take the cup of salvation, the relationship with God that Jesus purchased through His suffering. Once we have taken that cup, the door is open for our prayers, because we are no longer separated from Him by sin. Jesus is the only name given under heaven by which we must be saved. Any other hope, whether it is a better job, a repaired financial situation, or a future journey, will ultimately prove empty if we neglect the salvation of our souls.
So I will certainly pray for your work and your bills. God knows your practical needs, and He is your rock and your defense. He can open a door for a good job with a salary that will meet your obligations. But the most vital petition is for your own heart and for those you have named, that each of you would stop trusting in anything else and simply confess Jesus as Lord. When you submit to His lordship, He becomes your light and your salvation. Then, even in times of trouble, you can say with confidence, “Whom shall I fear?” The Lord will sustain you, not because you have been perfect, but because He is faithful to those who belong to Him.
Let today be the day when you take the cup of salvation, calling on the name of the Lord. Then, from that secure place, bring your finances, your job search, and your plans to Him. He hears the prayer of the one who has first trusted in His Son and will give you the peace that comes only from knowing your eternal future is settled in Jesus Christ.
