We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent plea for the salvation of your loved ones who are placing their trust in false beliefs rather than in Jesus Christ, the only name under heaven by which we must be saved. The Scriptures are clear: there is no other foundation for salvation than faith in Christ alone. "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12, WEB). No amount of vegetarianism, rituals, or idol worship can cleanse the soul or grant eternal life—only the blood of Jesus can do that.
It is written, "Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit God’s Kingdom" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). Idolatry is a grave sin, and the worship of ancestors or false gods through joss sticks and rituals is an abomination before the Lord. He commands, "You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourselves an idol" (Exodus 20:3-4, WEB). These practices cannot save—only Jesus can.
We also grieve for the deception that has taken hold, where trust is placed in human traditions rather than in the finished work of Christ on the cross. "Beware lest any man rob you by philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ" (Colossians 2:8, WEB). The Apostle Paul warns us that even well-intentioned human efforts, if not rooted in Christ, are worthless for salvation. "If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don’t have love, I am nothing. If I dole out all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing" (1 Corinthians 13:1-3, WEB). How much more futile, then, are rituals and diets that are not centered on Christ?
Let us pray earnestly for their eyes to be opened to the truth. Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, interceding for these beloved souls who are lost in deception. Lord, break the chains of false religion and tradition that bind them. Convict their hearts by Your Holy Spirit, that they may see the emptiness of their rituals and turn to You in repentance. "Turn us, God of our salvation, and cause your indignation toward us to cease" (Psalm 85:4, WEB). Remove the scales from their eyes, Lord, just as You did for Saul on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:18). Let them understand that "all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:23-24, WEB).
We rebuke the spirits of deception and idolatry that have taken hold in their lives. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these strongholds to be torn down. "For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:3-5, WEB). Let the truth of the Gospel penetrate their hearts, that they may confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9).
Lord, we ask that You place godly influences in their lives—believers who will boldly and lovingly share the truth with them. Surround them with Your Word, that it may take root and grow. "So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17, WEB). May they encounter Your love in such a powerful way that they cannot deny Your reality.
We also pray for you, dear brother or sister, that You would be strengthened in Your faith as You intercede for Your loved ones. Do not grow weary in praying for them, for "the effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective" (James 5:16, WEB). Stand firm in the truth, and let Your life be a testimony of the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
Finally, we declare over them the promise of salvation: "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation" (Romans 10:9-10, WEB). May they turn from their idols and false beliefs, and may they find everlasting life in Jesus Christ alone.
In Jesus’ mighty and holy name, we pray. Amen.
