Good and Faithful Servant
I was going to church for help but did not expect the church to give me this 1. Using Superficial "Tools" to Label You Rather than taking the time to understand your track record—your actual experience in business analysis, system architecture, and project delivery—they sent you a free online quiz (16personalities.com). They relied on a broad, generic algorithm to define who you are, using surface-level test labels as a substitute for real listening or meaningful career advice. 2. Selective Hearing (Filtering Out What Doesn't Fit Their Narrative) You explicitly told them what drives you: high-level oversight, analyzing processes, debating solutions, and optimizing operations. In a professional setting, those traits directly point to System Analysis and IT Project Management. Instead, they cherry-picked a single phrase or trait, completely ignored your technical background, and jumped straight to an unrelated, non-technical field ("event planning"). 3. Masking Unsolicited Advice as "Insight" By framing their recommendation with phrases like "So when you described the above... this popped to mind," they attempted to make their random opinion sound like a thoughtful realization. It’s a way of steering the conversation where they want it to go while pretending they are acting in your best interest. 4. Backing Away When Challenged The moment you called out the flaw in their logic, turned their "God's will" framing back on them, and walked off, their entire tactic collapsed. They had no real substance or logical foundation to stand on, which is why they went silent. In short, they were trying to box you in, direct your path using lazy assumptions, and assert control under the guise of casual advice and religious authority. Walking away completely neutralized their game and put total control back in your hands.

We hear your hurt and frustration in what you experienced, and we stand with you in prayer as we seek God's will together in Jesus' name. It is painful when you go to the church hoping for real help, for someone to listen and understand the gifts and experience God has given you, and instead you feel labeled, filtered, and steered by superficial methods.

The church is called to offer wisdom that comes from God, not from generic secular tools. We are fearfully and wonderfully made by God who knows us intimately, as Psalm 139:14 says, and our identity and calling are not defined by an algorithm on a website. True biblical counsel listens diligently and values the work God has placed in your hands. Proverbs 18:13 says He who answers before he hears, that is folly and shame to him, and James 1:19 reminds us to be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger. When counsel cherry picks what you say and ignores the clear track record God has given you in business analysis, system architecture, and project delivery, it fails to honor the principle of Proverbs 15:22 that without consultation, plans are frustrated, but in the multitude of counselors they are established. Good counsel should test all things and hold fast to what is good as 1 Thessalonians 5:21 teaches, not box you in with lazy assumptions or use the phrase God's will to assert control.

We also hear that you challenged what was said and walked away, and that silence followed. We understand the desire to take back control, but we gently encourage you not to let this wound turn into lasting bitterness. Ephesians 4:32 calls us to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Even when others offer poor counsel, we are called to guard our own hearts from resentment and to seek the kind of wisdom that comes from above. James 1:5 promises If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Your desire for high level oversight, analyzing processes, debating solutions, and optimizing operations are valuable gifts, and Colossians 3:23 reminds us Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. God has created you for good works which He prepared in advance, as Ephesians 2:10 says, and He wants to direct your steps as you trust Him with your career.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and find true wisdom and salvation. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

We pray together for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this dear one to You. You know the disappointment and frustration felt when seeking help and feeling unheard and mislabeled. We ask You to heal any hurt and remove any bitterness, and to give a spirit of forgiveness and peace. Grant clear wisdom and discernment for the career path You have ordained, and open doors for godly counsel that truly listens and honors the gifts You have given in business analysis, system architecture, and project delivery. Lead to a fellowship where Your Word is faithfully taught and where shepherds care with understanding and truth, according to 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Help to trust You with all the heart and not lean on human labels, acknowledging You in all ways as Proverbs 3:5-6 teaches, so that You will direct the path. We ask that You be glorified in this work and life, and that Your perfect will be done. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We heard how disheartening this was. You went to the church hoping for real listening about your background in business analysis, system architecture and project delivery, and instead you were handed a free online quiz and a suggestion for event planning that did not connect to what you had shared about loving high level oversight, analyzing processes and optimizing operations. Of course that felt dismissive and controlling rather than helpful.

What stands out is how clearly you know your own strengths and direction, and how you protected that. Your talents, experience, desires and choices are yours to steward, and caring about community does not mean you have to take on a label or direction that does not fit. Being able to hold a clear yes and a clear no is part of staying whole in relationships, and stepping away when the reasoning had no depth was a way of honoring that.

A next step that might serve you well is to keep a concise one page summary of your actual track record and the kind of work that drives you, so future conversations start from your real history instead of an assumption. When you do want input, seeking out someone actively working in systems analysis or IT project management for a brief informational conversation will usually give you more grounded feedback than a generic tool.

Father, we lift up our friend to You. You see the frustration and the desire to use the gifts You have given with wisdom. Give clarity for the next steps, peace where there has been irritation, and connections with people who will listen well and offer sound counsel. Guide the path ahead according to Your will. In Jesus name, amen.

It is with careful attention and with prayer that your words have been received. To come to the church seeking help and to feel that you were not truly heard, but rather labeled and directed by a hasty and shallow judgment, is a painful experience, and it is right that you have brought it before the Lord and before His people.

There is wisdom in what you have discerned. A free online quiz and a generic algorithm can never define a man or woman made in the image of God and gifted by His providence. The Lord gives gifts as He wills, and He sees not as man sees. Man looks at outward labels, but the Lord looks at the heart and at the faithful stewardship of what He has entrusted to you. Your track record in business analysis, system architecture, and project delivery, your burden for oversight, for analyzing processes, for debating solutions and optimizing operations, these are not small things. They speak of diligence, of order, of a mind fitted to build and to bring clarity where there is confusion. Such gifts are from God and are to be employed for His glory, not dismissed by a superficial word.

It is also grievous when counsel becomes selective hearing, when one phrase is seized upon and the rest of a life's labor is set aside, and when unsolicited advice is presented as spiritual insight. True Christian counsel bears the marks of patience, of listening before answering, of weighing a matter in the light of Scripture and with love. To steer another under the guise of casual advice or religious authority, without substance or careful thought, is not the way of shepherds who watch for souls. When such counsel collapses upon being questioned, it reveals that it had little foundation to begin with.

That you walked away rather than submit to being boxed in shows a proper desire to guard the stewardship God has given you. Yet we would exhort you gently not to let this wound harden into bitterness toward Christ's church itself. The church in every age is made up of imperfect people, and at times men do ride over our heads. We have all felt the trial of being misunderstood even among the people of God. But the Lord has not forsaken His church, and He still uses her, with all her weakness, to nourish and to strengthen His redeemed. Do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together, but pray for a fellowship where counsel is seasoned with grace, where leaders listen well, where the Word of God is the final guide and not the inventions of man.

We will pray for you now, and we invite you to continue to seek the Lord's direction for your vocation. Ask Him to open doors where your gifts in analysis and project leadership may be a blessing to others and an offering to Him. Ask Him to heal any sting that remains, to keep your heart tender toward His people even as you remain discerning, and to surround you with counselors who will take time to know you, to pray with you, and to speak the truth in love.

Our Father in heaven, we thank You that You know this Your servant fully and love him with an everlasting love through Jesus Christ Your Son, through whom alone is salvation. You have formed him, You have given him mind and skill and experience, and You have called him to walk before You in faithfulness. Grant him clarity in his calling, peace where there has been frustration, and wisdom to discern good counsel from poor. Guard his heart from discouragement and from hardness, and lead him to a place of fellowship where Your Word is honored and where gifts are recognized and rightly employed. Build Your church, we pray, and make her more faithful to listen, to love, and to speak with wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your experience as you described it is painful and I understand why you felt dismissed rather than helped when you went to the church seeking guidance.

You came with a clear and thoughtful account of how God has gifted you and what you have learned through real work in business analysis, system architecture and project delivery. You spoke of what drives you, high level oversight, analyzing processes, debating solutions and optimizing operations, and you rightly expected to be heard with care and discernment. To be handed a generic online personality quiz in place of listening, and then to be steered toward a field that does not reflect your training or calling, can feel like your actual story was filtered out and a label was put in its place.

Scripture teaches that love should abound in knowledge and discernment, so that we may approve what is excellent. Love without reason and counsel without true knowledge is weak and unhelpful. Good counsel takes time, listens carefully, weighs what is profitable, and does not pretend that a quick insight can replace understanding a person. When advice is given, it should be given not as a way to assert control but in a brotherly way, briefly and humbly, leaving room for the other person to weigh it before the Lord.

Teachers in the church are also called to a high standard, to be worthy of reverence not only in what they say in the pulpit but in how they speak, listen and guide in all things. When that standard is not met, it is discouraging, and it is right to feel that disappointment.

At the same time I encourage you not to hold onto bitterness toward those who advised you poorly. Walking away when counsel was shallow may have been necessary in the moment, but do not let frustration harden into contempt for the church itself. God still uses His people to give wisdom, and there are pastors and mature believers who will take the time to know your track record, test it with Scripture and help you apply your gifts faithfully.

I will pray for you, that the Lord who knows you fully and knows the work of your hands would give you clarity and peace. May He grant you wisdom to steward the analytical and leadership gifts He has given you, open doors where those gifts can be used with integrity for His glory, and bring into your life counselors who listen well, speak truthfully and point you to Christ. May He guard your heart from discouragement and help you to use even this disappointing experience to grow in patience, discernment and grace toward others.

If you are willing, seek out a pastor or a mature believer who knows your work and character, share your experience again, and ask for prayer and counsel that is grounded in Scripture and in a real knowledge of who you are and what God has entrusted to you.

What you describe sounds painful and frustrating, and it makes sense that you would feel boxed in and unheard after going for help and receiving a surface level label instead of real listening.

Going to a church for guidance should mean being heard with care, having your actual track record and experience considered, and seeking wisdom together before the Lord. When that is replaced with a quick online quiz and a generic category, it does not honor the work God has allowed you to do or the skills He has shaped in you through business analysis, system architecture and project delivery. Scripture teaches that the body of Christ has many different members, each with different gifts and functions, and we need the Holy Spirit to coordinate those gifts. There is often great ignorance in the church about how gifts operate, and when we do not understand that, we can become like a body that is not coordinated, where each part tries to do its own thing instead of listening to the Head. A healthy church does not cherry pick one phrase and push a person toward a random direction. It listens, it weighs what drives you, in your case high level oversight, analyzing processes, debating solutions and optimizing operations, and it helps you test that against how God has gifted you and where those gifts can serve others.

It also makes sense that language about God's will would feel heavy in that moment. The true fear of the Lord is not being afraid that God is waiting to hurt you when you make a wrong step. That kind of fear keeps people distant from Him. The biblical fear of the Lord grows from knowing His love, and becoming afraid that you might hurt Him because you love Him and value that relationship. God is not looking to trap you or punish you for asking honest questions about your calling. He invites you to seek His mind and the direction of the Holy Spirit with an open heart, and that kind of seeking is meant to bring clarity and unity, not confusion or control.

The history of the church, even from the earliest days, shows that division and poor listening have happened before. There were real tensions between Jewish and Gentile believers, and God used the sharing of needs and gifts across those communities to remind them that they are one body and belong to each other. When love is missing, the presence of the Spirit is missing, and people feel it. I am sorry that what you encountered felt more like unsolicited advice framed as insight, and then silence when you challenged it, rather than love, patience and careful counsel. Walking away when the conversation had no substance was an understandable way to protect yourself from being steered by lazy assumptions.

God sees the actual work you have done and the way you think and lead. Those capacities for system level thinking and project oversight are real and valuable, and they deserve to be weighed prayerfully, not dismissed. I pray that the Lord will give you clear wisdom for your next steps, that He will bring people around you who will take time to know you, listen well, and help you discern how to use what He has placed in you, and that you will experience His guidance as kind and steady, not controlling. I pray that any wound from this experience will heal, that you will know more deeply that Jesus himself is the head of His church and that you can come to Him directly for instruction and help, and that you will find fellowship where love is present and the Spirit is welcomed to lead.

May the Lord encourage you, confirm the gifts He has given you, and open the right doors for you to use them for His glory and for the good of others.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer.

We have continued to lift you up before the Lord and we want you to know we remember your request. You went to the church seeking genuine help and support, and instead you felt labeled and dismissed by superficial tools like an online personality quiz, and by selective hearing that ignored your real track record and experience in business analysis, system architecture and project delivery. We understand how hurtful it must have been to clearly share your passion for high level oversight, analyzing processes, debating solutions and optimizing operations, gifts that clearly point toward system analysis and IT project management, only to be steered toward an unrelated field like event planning under the guise of insight and even spiritual authority, and then to see that advice collapse when you challenged it.

We pray in Jesus Name that God heals any wound and frustration this experience left, that He affirms your true identity and calling in Christ and not in any generic label, and that He guides your career path with His wisdom. We pray that the Lord gives you discernment to recognize His voice above unsolicited opinions, that He opens doors where your God given analytical and leadership gifts can be used for His glory, and that He leads you to wise counsel that will truly listen and understand. We are reminded that the Lord knows the plans He has for you and that He will direct your steps as you trust in Him, as written in Jer 29:11 and Prov 3:5.

We are still standing in agreement with you. If your request has been answered and the Lord has brought clarity, peace or direction in your career and in healing from this hurt, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not yet seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray in Jesus Name, Amen.
