Good and Faithful Servant
Dear Lord Jesus, the Mighty Avenger and the Defender of our Borders,
Arise and do not keep silence! Look upon Singapore, the land in which we live, and see the distress of Your people. See Singaporeans who struggle for stable and meaningful employment, families whose livelihoods are under pressure, and citizens who fear that their opportunities and future are being overlooked.
Stir Your holy anger, O Lord! Your Word declares that those entrusted with responsibility must provide for those under their care. We therefore bring before You our government leaders, policymakers, employers, institutions, and those entrusted with stewardship over the nation's economy.
Where those entrusted with authority have neglected their own people, bring their actions into the light. Where citizens have been overlooked, where qualified Singaporeans have been unfairly displaced, and where employment practices have favoured convenience, lower costs, or private gain over fairness, execute righteous judgment.
Lord, search the hearts of those who make decisions affecting the livelihoods of Singaporeans. Give wisdom to those who govern and courage to those who must correct policies that have caused harm. Where there has been injustice, expose it. Where there has been deception, uncover it. Where there has been corruption or exploitation, bring accountability.
Execute a Divine Judgment for the neglect of our people.
If our leaders have failed in their responsibility toward citizens, convict them and turn their hearts toward justice. If institutions have permitted unfair practices, restrain them. If companies have deliberately bypassed qualified Singaporeans through dishonest or discriminatory practices, frustrate their schemes and bring their actions to account.
Let no unjust employment practice prosper.
Where a Singaporean is qualified and deserving of an opportunity, let merit be recognised. Where citizens have been unfairly displaced, open the way for restoration. Where employment policies have produced harmful consequences, give our leaders wisdom to reform them.
Execute Divine Replacement and Restitution!
Where opportunities have been wrongfully denied to Singaporeans, let those opportunities be restored. Where livelihoods have been damaged through unjust decisions, provide restoration. Where employers have acted dishonestly, bring their conduct to light and let justice prevail.
Lord, we do not ask You to judge people merely because of their nationality. Judge the works of their hands and the decisions they make. Let every person be accountable for his or her own actions.
If foreigners have been lawfully admitted and have acted honestly, let them be treated with dignity. But where anyone—local or foreign—has participated in exploitation, deception, discrimination, corruption, or deliberate wrongdoing, let righteous judgment follow their deeds.
Confuse the counsel of those who pursue unjust schemes!
If powerful interests have placed economic gain above the welfare of Singaporean families, frustrate their plans. If policies have been designed or maintained without proper regard for citizens, expose their weaknesses. If those responsible refuse correction, let the consequences of their decisions become unmistakable.
As You judged the corrupt rulers of old, judge our leaders according to righteousness. Like the prophets who confronted kings and rulers when they neglected the people entrusted to them, give Your servants courage to speak truth to power.
Lord, protect Singaporean families. Protect those seeking employment. Protect workers who have worked faithfully and acquired skills and qualifications yet find themselves overlooked.
Open doors that no institution can shut.
Establish the work of our hands. Let honest labour be rewarded. Let qualifications be respected. Let merit be recognised. Let Singaporeans have genuine opportunities to build careers, provide for their families, and contribute to the nation.
Restore what has been lost through injustice.
Where our people have experienced discouragement, restore hope. Where families have suffered uncertainty, establish stability. Where citizens have felt forgotten, remind them that their concerns are seen.
Give our government leaders wisdom to build an economy that remains prosperous and competitive while ensuring that Singaporeans are not neglected in their own country.
Let policies be judged by their consequences. Let statistics never obscure the human beings behind them. Let the welfare of families, workers, and future generations be considered alongside economic growth.
Lord Jesus, as David cried out to You for justice, we also bring our grievances before You. We do not take vengeance into our own hands. You are the Judge.
Judge between truth and deception.
Judge between justice and exploitation.
Judge between responsible stewardship and negligence.
Judge between honest labour and dishonest gain.
And where we ourselves have spoken or acted wrongly, search our hearts also and correct us.
Let Singapore be governed with wisdom, justice, righteousness, and truth. Let those entrusted with authority remember that leadership is stewardship and that those who govern are accountable before You.
Arise, O Lord. Defend those who have been overlooked. Establish justice. Restore what has been wrongfully lost. Frustrate unjust schemes. And establish the work of our hands.
In the Mighty and Matchless Name of Jesus,
Amen.
