Proverbs 31:8-9 calls us to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves: "Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy."

We also want to address the spiritual aspect of this situation. While we understand your focus is on the earthly policies and their impact, we must remind you that our ultimate citizenship is in heaven. Philippians 3:20 tells us, "For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus, we urge you to consider the salvation He offers. Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." Only through Jesus can we find true peace, justice, and hope, both in this life and the next.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for the people of Singapore. We lift up the leaders of the nation, asking that You would grant them wisdom, discernment, and a heart for justice. Lord, we pray that You would guide their decisions so that they may steward the resources and opportunities of the nation wisely, ensuring that the needs of all citizens are met. We ask that You would soften the hearts of those in authority, that they may see the struggles of the people and act with compassion and fairness.

Father, we pray for the locals who feel overlooked and burdened by the challenges they face. Comfort them, Lord, and remind them that You see their struggles and hear their cries. Provide for their needs, both materially and spiritually. Give them strength to endure and hope for the future. We ask that You would protect their heritage and culture, and that You would raise up voices to speak truth and advocate for justice on their behalf.

The pressure you describe, the rising cost of living and the sense of being pushed aside in your own land, is a heavy burden to carry, and it is right to bring it before the Lord in honest prayer.

You speak of feeling bullied and overlooked, and of bearing much stress in daily life. Hear what our Savior says concerning such cares. Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. Be prudent, and do what duty requires, but do not give way to anxiety about your temporal affairs. I have found by my own experience and by observation of others that anxiety has never comforted anybody, nor has it brought any grist to the mill, or any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. Indeed the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty.

Beware also of living by feeling. He that lives by feelings will be happy today and unhappy tomorrow, for feelings are as fickle as the weather and go up and down like a barometer. Do not let the passions of the moment, whether fear or resentment, become your master. Rather live by faith upon the Word of God, which is steadfast.

Therefore deal honestly with God. Come and tell the Lord just as you are. If there is heaviness, tell Him of heaviness. If there is no feeling but hardness and worry, tell Him you do not feel as you ought. He loves truth in the inward parts and will keep you in a truthful spirit as you admit the truth concerning yourself and concerning Him.

Feed upon the Word and seek those breezes from the Celestial City. There are times on the hill Beulah when the wind blows the right way and you may smell the spices of the Glory Land where Emmanuel is King. I pray you may know that comfort even while earthly things remain unsettled.

We are to go as far as we can into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature, and to seek out the oppressed. This is our calling, to love our neighbor and to pray for all people, and to pray for those in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. The Lord in His providence sets the bounds of peoples and nations, and He remains sovereign over rulers and over our daily bread.

Let us pray together that the Lord would give you peace that passes understanding, wisdom to act prudently in your own sphere, compassion toward all around you whether long rooted or newly arrived, and justice and mercy from those who govern. May He provide for your needs, quiet your anxious thoughts, and fix your hope not on princes but on Christ, who alone is our salvation and our rest.

Your concern for your homeland and for the people who have labored to build it has been heard, and your distress over the pressures of daily life, the rising cost of living, and the fear that ordinary citizens are being overlooked is understood. It is right to bring these burdens before God, for He is full of love and weaves the life of His people out of both hardship and refreshment, not leaving us in continual danger nor in continual ease, but giving strength for each season.

We pray for you and for all who share this anxiety, that God would grant peace to your heart and guard you from bitterness or resentment. We pray also for Singapore, for those in government who bear the responsibility of ordering the common life, that they may be given wisdom, justice and compassion to govern well. Scripture teaches that authorities are entrusted to procure peace and the blessings of order for the whole community, and we are called to pray for them and to seek the welfare of the city where God has placed us, so that all may live quiet and peaceable lives.

We ask the Lord to provide for those who feel pressed and weary, to relieve the hardships of families struggling with daily needs, and to foster a spirit of fairness and kindness among all who live there, whether long rooted or newly arrived. May God help neighbors to see one another not with suspicion but with love, and may He help you to cast your cares upon Him, trusting that He sees every labor and every sorrow and will not forget His people.

The heaviness and pressure you are feeling comes through very clearly, the sense of being overlooked and pushed aside in your own land, of carrying the daily stress of rising costs and financial hardship while feeling that those in authority favor others and then place blame on ordinary people for not keeping up.

Scripture shows that God sees these things clearly. He condemns leadership that acts out of covetousness and uses power for oppression and violence, and He remembers and blesses those who seek to walk righteously before Him as Josiah did. When His people have faced deep financial distress, as the church in Jerusalem once did, He has moved others to share and to show practical love, and He has taught His people to trust Him through seasons of deprivation and hardship rather than being overwhelmed by them. He does not overlook affliction and oppression.

The psalmist knew this same kind of mourning and anxiety, crying out about the oppression of the enemy and asking why God seemed to hide His face and forget affliction, why the righteous seem to suffer while other causes prosper, and why the soul is bowed down and filled with anxiety under many kinds of pressure, financial, relational and spiritual. His answer was to turn and pray, send out your light and your truth, let them lead me, and to speak to his own soul, hope thou in God. When God is factored back into the situation, what felt impossible and trapping begins to have a way forward.

You do not have to live in constant anxiety and fear. The peace of God can guard your heart and mind in Christ as you commit these burdens to the Lord in prayer. Your ultimate citizenship is in heaven, and you can look to His return and His present care, trusting Him for daily provision even when circumstances remain difficult.

We pray for you now, that the Lord would lift this weight of anxiety and stress, that He would provide for your daily needs and make His reality known as you trust Him, that He would give you His light and truth to lead you and keep your heart from bitterness, and that He would move upon those in authority to act with justice and without covetousness or oppression. May He redeem and help you for His mercy's sake, and keep you in His peace as you hope in Him.
