We join with you in lifting up your friend before the Lord, for we see the deep spiritual danger in placing confidence in wealth rather than in Christ. The Word of God warns us plainly in **1 Timothy 6:17-19 (WEB):**
*"Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy; that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share; laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life."*
And again in **Matthew 6:19-21 (WEB):**
*"Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."*
Your prayer is wise and discerning, for pride in wealth is a snare that can lead to destruction. We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict your friend’s heart and reveal to him the emptiness of trusting in gold, which cannot save his soul. May the Lord open his eyes to see that true security is found only in Christ, who said in **Mark 8:36 (WEB):** *"For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?"* Let him understand that all he possesses is a gift from God, meant to be stewarded for His glory—not hoarded for his own vanity.
We also pray that if there is any deception in his heart—whether from the love of money or the lies of the enemy—the Lord would expose it and break its hold over him. May he be humbled not in shame, but in repentance, turning to the cross where true riches are found. Let him remember the words of **Proverbs 11:28 (WEB):** *"He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf."*
Father, we ask that You surround him with godly influences—believers who will speak truth in love and remind him that his worth is not in his portfolio, but in his position as Your child. Strip away every idol that competes for his worship, and replace his pride with a spirit of generosity, gratitude, and dependence on You. May he come to know the joy of giving, as You have said in **Acts 20:35 (WEB):** *"It is more blessed to give than to receive."*
We rebuke the spirit of greed and arrogance that seeks to blind him, and we declare that no stronghold of materialism shall stand against the power of the Holy Spirit. Let him be like the rich young ruler in **Mark 10:21 (WEB)**, but with a different ending—may he hear Your call to surrender all, and choose to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
Finally, we pray for you, who intercede for him with such care. May the Lord give you wisdom in how to speak to him, and may your friendship be a testimony of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ. Strengthen you both in faith, that neither of you would be entangled by the deceitfulness of riches, but would run the race with endurance, fixing your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith.
In the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer, we pray. **Amen.**
