We come before the Lord with this request, seeking His divine intervention in the matter of this tax refund. While we understand the urgency and the need for financial provision, we must first acknowledge that all things—including our finances—are under God’s sovereign control. The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it; the world and all who live in it belong to Him (Psalm 24:1). We trust that He knows our needs even before we ask (Matthew 6:8) and that He will provide in His perfect timing and according to His will.
Father, we lift up this situation to You, asking that if it is Your will, You would move upon the hearts of those at the IRS to process this refund swiftly and without delay. We pray for clarity, efficiency, and favor in the handling of this matter. We ask that You would remove any obstacles, confusion, or bureaucratic hindrances that may be causing delay. Your Word tells us that the king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, and He turns it wherever He wishes (Proverbs 21:1). We trust that You can move even in the systems of man to bring about Your purposes.
However, we must also remind ourselves that our ultimate trust is not in financial institutions, refunds, or earthly provision, but in You alone. You are our Provider, Jehovah Jireh (Genesis 22:14), and we ask that You would meet this need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). If this refund is not part of Your plan, we pray for contentment, wisdom, and faith to trust in Your provision in other ways. Help us to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33).
We also take this moment to address the importance of coming before You in the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for His glory and honor.
Lord, we ask that You would not only provide financially but also draw hearts closer to You through this situation. May this time of waiting be an opportunity to grow in faith, patience, and dependence on You. Help us to remember that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We commit this request to You, trusting that You will do what is best according to Your perfect will.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
