We lift up this family before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to move mightily in their hearts and home. Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and through whom we have access to Your presence. We ask that You would soften hearts, heal wounds, and restore what has been broken in this marriage.
Lord, Your Word tells us in Ephesians 4:31-32, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." We pray that this couple would release every ounce of resentment, anger, and bitterness that has taken root in their hearts. Replace these with Your love, which covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). Let them extend grace to one another as You have so graciously extended it to them.
We also rebuke any spirit of division or pride that may be at work in this home. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we declare that Your peace, unity, and love will reign in this marriage. We pray that they would turn toward one another in humility, choosing to embrace and cherish the love You have placed between them. Help them to remember the vows they made before You, not just to each other, but to You, Lord. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and we ask that You would strengthen their commitment to one another and to You.
Father, we know that hard times will come, but Your Word assures us in 1 Corinthians 13:7 that love "bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." We pray that this couple would cling to that truth, leaning on You and one another when trials arise. Give them the strength and willingness to work through every challenge together, not as adversaries, but as a team united in Christ. Let their children see a marriage that reflects Your love, a love that is patient, kind, and unshakable.
We also pray for their children, Lord. Let them grow up in a home filled with Your peace, where they witness the beauty of a marriage that honors You. Protect their hearts from the effects of any strife and fill them with hope for the future.
Finally, we ask that You would draw this family closer to You. If there are areas where they have strayed from Your will, convict their hearts gently and lead them back to Your truth. May they seek You first in all things, for You are the foundation of their marriage and their family.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
