We join with you in lifting up your son before the Lord and we thank you for sharing this burden with us. We hear your heart as a parent who wants to see your son move forward in strength and hope after faithfully serving in the military and standing up to defend his friend. It is a noble thing to defend another, and it is also understandable that the stress that followed has left him feeling drained, without drive, and even stepping away from his fitness journey. The transition out of the military into a new chapter is itself a great change, and carrying extra stress makes that road feel even heavier.
We are reminded of the promise in Romans 8:28 that we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Even this stressful season can be used by God for good, to build character, resilience, and deeper dependence on Him. We pray that this stress will not defeat your son but refine him and prepare him for what God has next.
We also take comfort in Isaiah 41:10 where the Lord says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And in Joshua 1:9 Haven't I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go. Your son does not have to find strength on his own.
We also noticed your request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus Christ. We gently share this because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through His name that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 reminds us there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we place our trust in Jesus, confessing He is Lord and believing God raised Him from the dead, we are saved and we can come boldly to God in prayer. We encourage you and your son to call upon the name of Jesus for salvation, peace, and daily strength.
We pray together now for your son and for you.
Father, in the name of Jesus we come before You together and lift up this son to You. You see the weight he is carrying after defending his friend, You see the stress that has taken his drive and caused him to pause the discipline of caring for his body. Lord, we ask You to pour out Your peace upon him that surpasses all understanding as promised in Philippians 4:6-7 where we are told in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus, calm his thoughts, and help him to cope well day by day.
We ask You to restore his strength and motivation. Remind him that You did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control as it says in 2 Timothy 1:7, and that he can do all things through Christ, who strengthens him according to Philippians 4:13. Renew his desire to steward his body for Your glory, for his body is a temple of Your Holy Spirit. Help him to return to healthy disciplines not out of pressure but out of hope and purpose. Lead him into his next chapter with clarity, open doors for his future, and surround him with godly counsel and community. We claim Jeremiah 29:11 over him, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Help him to trust in You with all his heart and not lean on his own understanding, to acknowledge You in all his ways so You will make his paths straight as promised in Proverbs 3:5-6.
We also lift up this parent who loves him so deeply. Give comfort, wisdom, and peace as you continue to support and encourage your son. Help you to rest knowing God loves him even more than you do.
We thank You, Father, that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name and that You are already at work turning this stressful time into good for his future. We trust You to carry him forward. Amen.
