Pray for my ### she believes lust isn't a sin

Caden202

Humble Servant of All
She doesn't want me to tell people about it, she also said "Love starts with lust" I don't know if she can be saved because she has already heard the truth and she doesn't want to hear it from me

We hear the heavy burden you are carrying for this woman you love and we join with you in bringing her before the Lord. We understand your concern when she says that lust is not a sin and that love starts with lust, and that she does not want you to tell others, and your fear that because she has heard the truth and is now resisting it she may be beyond saving.

We want to gently but clearly correct what she is believing, because it does not align with Scripture. Lust is indeed sin. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Scripture also warns in 1 John 2:16 that all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And in Galatians 5:19-21 the works of the flesh are listed and include sexual immorality and lustful desires, and those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Lust is not love. Love as God defines it in 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 is patient and is kind, love does not envy, does not brag, is not proud, does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil. True love seeks the good and purity of the other person, it does not use the other person to satisfy fleshly desire. Lust seeks to take, love seeks to give and to honor. To say love starts with lust is to reverse God's design, for God is love in 1 John 4:8 and love begins with Him, not with fleshly craving.

We also hear your struggle with her asking you not to tell people. We will honor the privacy of your request before the Lord and we do not encourage gossip, but Scripture does teach that we should seek godly counsel and not hide sin in darkness. James 5:16 tells us to confess our sins to one another and pray for one another that we may be healed, and bringing a concern into the light with a trusted pastor or mature believer for prayer and wisdom is not betrayal, it is love. We encourage you to continue to pray privately and to seek wise, biblical counsel without speaking about her in a way that would shame her, but that would seek her restoration.

We want to encourage you not to give up hope for her salvation. The fact that she has heard the truth and is now pushing it away does not mean she cannot be saved. While she has breath, there is hope. In 2 Peter 3:9 we read that the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. We think of Saul who persecuted the church and rejected the truth until the Lord opened his eyes, and God gave him a new heart as promised in Ezekiel 36:26. In 2 Timothy 2:25-26 we are taught to correct those who oppose the truth with gentleness, if perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth, and they may recover themselves out of the devil's snare. Only God knows when a heart will soften, so we keep praying and keep lovingly speaking the truth.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and that anyone can be saved. In John 14:6 Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. In Romans 10:13 whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. This is true for you and for her. If we confess our sin, believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and trust Him as Lord, we are forgiven and made new. Lust, like all sin, can be forgiven when we repent and turn to Christ, and He will cleanse us and teach us to walk in purity.

We lift her and you up together now in prayer.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, asking for Your mercy and truth to prevail in this woman's heart. We ask that You open her eyes to see that lust is sin and that it separates us from You, and that You show her the beauty of Your holy love which is pure and selfless. Soften her heart where it has become hardened to the truth, grant her repentance and a hunger for Your Word, and draw her to call upon the name of Jesus to be saved. Give the one who is praying for her wisdom, patience, and courage to speak the truth in love in Ephesians 4:15, to live a holy example before her, and to not grow weary in prayer. Help him to trust Your timing and to rest in Your power to save, knowing that You desire that none should perish. Cleanse us all from secret sins and teach us to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to pursue holiness. We ask this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus, amen.

We can hear the weight you are carrying. You love her, you have tried to share truth, and now you feel stuck between respecting what she asked and worrying about her soul.

We want to encourage you that her response right now does not decide her future with God. We cannot change another person's heart by arguing, even with good motives. Only God can open eyes and bring transformation, and He keeps pursuing people even after they have heard and pushed truth away. Your role is not to convince her, but to remain faithful in love and prayer.

One steady next step that often helps in this kind of tension is to give the conversation some rest. Instead of revisiting the debate she has asked you to drop, continue to show consistent kindness and pray privately for her. If you need support, seek one trusted, mature pastor or counselor who will keep confidence and can help you carry this wisely, rather than sharing broadly as she feared.

We are praying with you.

Father, we bring this woman before You and ask You to work in her heart in Your time and way. Draw her to Yourself, give her clarity and a desire for what is true and good. Give our friend wisdom to know when to speak and when to be quiet, peace as he trusts You with someone he loves, and strength to love her well without pressure. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden for this soul has been heard and we join you in carrying it before the throne of grace. It is a good and tender thing that you are grieved for her, and it does one good to hear a godly man pray for those who are yet outside the fold.

You are right to be troubled by what she has said, for the Word of God is plain that lust is indeed sin. Our Lord Himself has said that whosoever looketh on another to lust after them hath committed adultery already in his heart. Lust is not the beginning of love, but a corruption of it. True love is holy, patient and self denying, and it seeketh not its own. Lust seeketh to take, love seeketh to give, and the two are not the same. If you know the truth of God's salvation you must believe in real sin, and then you will come to desire a real salvation. To call sin by another name will never make the soul clean, but to confess sin as God names it opens the door to mercy.

You ask whether she can yet be saved though she has heard the truth and now turns away from it. Hear this to your comfort, God's salvation is a great reality, not a shadow or a myth, but a substantial thing, the very truth of God. The multitude of His mercy is great, and the free gift in Christ is greater than the ruin that came by one man's disobedience. The judgment came by one to condemnation, but the free gift came from many offences unto justification. While there is life and breath, no soul has sinned herself beyond the reach of that free gift, if she will look unto Christ and be saved. God our Saviour would have men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth, and the two things go together. Men are saved and the same men come to know the truth, and a saving knowledge of the truth delivers the heart from despair and from the deceit of sin.

Ignorance often hinders sinners from coming to Christ, and a false notion such as love starts with lust keeps the heart in darkness. Therefore stick to the quotation of Scripture itself and rely upon the truth. Truth alone can work results that are true. If a man could be saved by a lie it would be a lying salvation. Keep on teaching the truth, but do it with meekness and with much prayer. You need not strive or wrangle, for the salvation of a single soul is a mass of miracles and His grace is the triumphant energy by which the lost one is restored. He is still the Coming One for salvation, and He is mighty to save.

As for her desire that you tell no one, we will keep your confidence before men and carry it only before God, yet we counsel you to seek in private the help of a faithful pastor or an older godly man or woman who can bear your burden with you and give you wisdom, not to gossip, but to watch for your soul. Continue to pray for her, and let your life show the sanctifying power of the Spirit, that she may see there is a real Heaven and a real holiness prepared for those who are in Christ. Do not cease to look unto Him yourself, for this is the simple means of salvation, Look unto me and be ye saved. The weakest Christian in the boat of salvation, if he trusts Christ, is as safe as the strongest, because Christ fails none who trust Him.

Let us pray together.

O Lord God, whose mercy is manifold and whose salvation is true and substantial, we bring this precious soul before Thee. Thou knowest her thoughts and her words, and that she calls darkness light. Grant her a knowledge of the truth that she may be saved. Convict her of real sin that she may seek real salvation. Take away the veil from her eyes, soften the hardness of her heart, and cause her to look unto Jesus, who loved and lived and died and rose again, that she may find forgiveness for many offences and the gift of righteousness. Work this in Thy time by Thy Spirit, and keep this dear intercessor faithful, patient and full of love, speaking Thy Word without wavering. We ask this not to bless sin, but to beseech Thee to turn the sinner from it unto holiness and life everlasting, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
