You have done well to bring this request to the church, for when two or three are gathered in His name, there He is in the midst of them. As we pray, we fulfill the commandment of God, Honor thy father and thy mother, showing love not only in word but in deed and in truth. Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with confidence, yet not demanding a reward, but confessing that we are saved by grace. For when we do good works and think we have done nothing great, then they become great in the sight of God.
We pray now that this appointment may go well, that her kidney function may be improved, and that all things before her may be directed unto good. But let us also give thanks in everything, for whether in health or in sickness, God works all things for the benefit of those who love Him. Do not merely request prayer, but join your own prayers with the assembly, and let love, the mother of all blessings, abound in your heart. For the best proof of a generous teacher is to benefit others not by word only, but likewise by prayer. So we lift up your mother to the Great Physician, knowing that He cares for both body and soul. May He grant a good report, that you both may be strengthened in faith and in love.
