Beloved of All
We join you in praying for your children and thank you for bringing them before the Lord. It is right to ask for His blessing over their academic year and over every part of their lives.
Scripture teaches that wisdom is the most important thing to seek, and with all our seeking to seek understanding. Knowledge gives facts, but wisdom knows how to apply what is learned in a way that honors God. That is why the Bible says wisdom is better than rubies and nothing we desire can compare to it. For your children in their studies, knowledge is good, but wisdom is better, and true wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. It starts with reverence for Him, trusting Him and walking in His ways.
Wisdom is not just an idea, it is revealed in a person. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He has been made wisdom for us. When your children seek the Lord Himself, they find the source of real wisdom. Wisdom calls out openly to all and invites everyone to come and receive, to listen daily and to wait before the Lord. God promises to pour out His Spirit of wisdom and understanding on those who ask, and He delights to give good gifts to His children. When Solomon asked only for wisdom to walk rightly before God, the Lord was pleased and gave him wisdom abundantly and added to it what he had not even asked for.
We also pray that the Lord gives them the wisdom that comes from above. There is a wisdom of this world that is earthly and self seeking and leads to envy and strife, but the wisdom from above is pure and peaceable and leads to a holy life. That wisdom will preserve them and keep them. It is a defense and it gives life to those who have it. It guards the heart and guides the steps.
So we pray for your children, that the Lord would bless their learning this year and give them not only knowledge but wisdom and true understanding. May He reveal Himself to them more deeply, opening their eyes to know Him and His ways, for He has prepared things for those who love Him that no eye has seen apart from His Spirit. May He be their protection and keep them from harm, and may He provide for every need according to His goodness. May He lead them in holiness, keeping them pure in heart and conduct, and may He pour out His love upon them so they know how deeply they are loved and may walk in love toward others.
We ask the Father to draw each of them close to Jesus, to keep them watching at His gates and listening to His voice, and to cause His wisdom to dwell richly in them for His glory.
