We were so sorry to read this. Losing a friend to cancer is such a hard, heavy kind of loss, and we hear how much you care for him and for his family as they face the days ahead.
Grief is such a personal journey. No two people walk through it the same way, even within the same family. Some days may feel steady and others may bring waves of sadness, anger or just numbness, and all of that can be part of a natural response to losing someone dear. It often helps simply to know there is no single right way or timeline.
One of the kindest things you can do for his family, and for yourself, is to stay gently connected. Practical presence often means more than finding the right words. Bringing a meal, sitting quietly, listening when they want to talk and giving space when they do not, and checking back in a few weeks from now when many others have returned to routine can be a real support. Encouraging them to lean on trusted family, friends and their church community can also help carry the load.
We are praying for you and for them.
Father, in Jesus name we bring this family before You in their sorrow. Comfort them in their grief, surround them with caring people, and give our friend wisdom to know how to show Your love in the days ahead. Give them rest and peace as they mourn. Amen.
