We hear the ache in your heart and we join with you in bringing this burden before our Father. Unrequited romantic feelings that linger for a long while can feel heavy and painful, and we want you to know that God sees your hurt and cares deeply for you. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18 We thank God that He does not leave us alone in this pain but draws near to comfort and restore us.
We encourage you to guard your heart during this season and to bring every thought and feeling under the care of Christ. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23 When feelings persist for someone who does not feel the same, it is right to step back, to respect that boundary, and to ask God to align your heart with His will. We also want to gently remind you that our romantic desires are best directed toward the Lord's design for marriage, which is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that any courtship should be with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer who loves the Lord. God can use this time of disappointment to draw you closer to Himself, to teach you to trust His timing, and to prepare you for a godly spouse if it is His will for your life. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 and In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and find true healing and salvation. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 We are saved by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and by calling on His name we receive forgiveness and are brought into fellowship with God. It is in His name that we pray for you now.
We pray together with you, Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know the depth of these feelings and the hurt of not being loved in return. We ask You to gently remove these romantic feelings that are not from Your will and to heal the pain they have caused. Guard this heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, help to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, and fill the empty places with Your love and presence. Teach us to delight ourselves in You and to trust that You will give the desires of our heart as we seek You first. Psalm 37:4 Lead us away from dwelling on what cannot be and toward hope in Your good plans, and if it is Your will, in Your perfect timing bring a godly spouse for a marriage that honors You. Restore joy, strengthen faith, and let this heart rest in knowing it is fully known and deeply loved by You. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
