Pray for my feelings

Shadowar

Humble Servant
I’ve had romantic feelings for someone that I’ve had for a long while. He clearly doesn’t feel the same for me & it really hurts. Please pray these feelings go away.

We hear the ache in your heart and we join with you in bringing this burden before our Father. Unrequited romantic feelings that linger for a long while can feel heavy and painful, and we want you to know that God sees your hurt and cares deeply for you. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18 We thank God that He does not leave us alone in this pain but draws near to comfort and restore us.

We encourage you to guard your heart during this season and to bring every thought and feeling under the care of Christ. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23 When feelings persist for someone who does not feel the same, it is right to step back, to respect that boundary, and to ask God to align your heart with His will. We also want to gently remind you that our romantic desires are best directed toward the Lord's design for marriage, which is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that any courtship should be with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer who loves the Lord. God can use this time of disappointment to draw you closer to Himself, to teach you to trust His timing, and to prepare you for a godly spouse if it is His will for your life. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 and In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and find true healing and salvation. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 We are saved by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and by calling on His name we receive forgiveness and are brought into fellowship with God. It is in His name that we pray for you now.

We pray together with you, Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know the depth of these feelings and the hurt of not being loved in return. We ask You to gently remove these romantic feelings that are not from Your will and to heal the pain they have caused. Guard this heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, help to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, and fill the empty places with Your love and presence. Teach us to delight ourselves in You and to trust that You will give the desires of our heart as we seek You first. Psalm 37:4 Lead us away from dwelling on what cannot be and toward hope in Your good plans, and if it is Your will, in Your perfect timing bring a godly spouse for a marriage that honors You. Restore joy, strengthen faith, and let this heart rest in knowing it is fully known and deeply loved by You. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

Thank you for sharing something so tender and painful. Carrying feelings for someone for a long time while knowing they don't feel the same way can leave you feeling lonely and raw, and it makes sense that it hurts and that you would want relief.

We admire your honesty in asking God to help with these feelings rather than holding onto them or chasing something that isn't returned. Healing from this kind of disappointment often takes time and is not just a matter of trying harder to stop feeling. Giving yourself some gentle space can help. That might look like limiting one on one time or how often you check his social media, and intentionally filling that space with people and places where you are known and encouraged, like a trusted friend, small group, or regular worship with other believers. Being with God's people often quiets that sense of isolation when loneliness feels loud.

We are praying for you and we will keep bringing this to the Lord.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You see how long these feelings have lingered and how much it hurts to not be loved in return. Bring comfort to the ache, quiet the thoughts that spin, and give wisdom for boundaries that protect her heart. Help her to feel Your nearness and the care of people around her day by day. Lead her gently forward in Your love. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your sorrow is not hidden from Him who heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. There are several forms of a broken heart, and this ache of unrequited love is one of the sharpest, for it touches the tenderest part of our nature. You would be left to despair if there were no God of love and pity, but while Jehovah lives, the mourner need not despair.

We have taken your burden before the Lord in prayer, asking that He who is the great Physician would pour His healing virtue into this wound. Scripture tells us that the leaves of the tree of life were for the healing of the nations, and from this we learn that the least thing about Christ is healing. His very leaves, the gentlest touches of His grace, can change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. We have prayed that He would bring that healing to you now, not merely to dull the pain, but to restore and refresh your heart.

You have asked that these feelings may be taken away, and we have asked the Lord to do that gracious work in His own time and way. Do not think that He is indifferent to your tears. He knows how to burn with jealousy for your love, because He values it so dearly. When human love fails or is not returned, His love abounds still. He loved you before you loved Him, and His love abides, remaining constant notwithstanding all our sorrows and provocations.

May there arise out of your own heart, born of His first love to you, a renewed love towards your God. This love is a spark of the eternal flame of His love for you, may it never be quenched. Turn your thoughts to concentrate upon that wonderful theme. Dwell upon His love, live in it, and let it be the joy of your heart. Simple faith and meditation upon Christ will help you to know more of Him, to eat and drink abundantly at His table of love, and there you will find a sweetness that can sustain you when earthly hopes are disappointed.

Our prayer for you is this, that the Lord would gently lift this burden, calm the restless affections, and fill the empty place with His own abiding presence. May He guard your heart and mind, teach you to love Him more, and in His wisdom lead you in the path that is most for your holiness and His glory. May forgiveness and healing come together from His pardoning hand, and may His love act as a tonic to strengthen you for His service.

We will continue to pray that you will know yourself fully forgiven, fully loved, and fully healed by Jesus Christ, and that you will find in Him a love wonderful and surpassing all human love, a love that never fails. Amen.
