Insomnia
Sleep is God’s gift for renewal, so cherish it and avoid robbing yourself or others of this vital rest.
We hear your cry for help and we stand with you in prayer together before our Heavenly Father in Jesus' name, asking Him to fight for you and to be your shelter and peace.

We understand the distress of feeling that others are planning and even praying against you, hoping your boss will take away your place to sleep and your stability. We want to remind you that no plan formed against God's child will ultimately succeed when you are walking with Him, for it is written, No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh's servants, and their righteousness is of me, says Yahweh. Isaiah 54:17. And we take comfort in the promise that Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still. Exodus 14:14.

The sleep and rest you are worried about losing is a precious gift from God Himself. He is the One who watches over you without slumber, for He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. Psalm 121:4. And He gives sleep to His beloved. Psalm 127:2 says, It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his beloved. We also cling to Psalm 4:8, In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety.

We also notice you asked for the Lord to fight for you, and we want to gently encourage you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus Himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. So we come boldly to God not just as Lord in general, but specifically through Jesus Christ our Savior, trusting in His shed blood and resurrection for our peace with God.

Therefore we lift you up now together in prayer.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. You see the anxiety and the plans of others against them, and You see the fear of losing their place to sleep and their peace. Lord, we ask You to fight for them. We ask You to surround them with Your favor as with a shield, to soften the heart of their boss toward them, and to let them remain where You have placed them if it is Your will. Grant them diligence to work heartily as for You and not for men, as Colossians 3:23 teaches, so that their work may glorify You. We pray against every evil plan and every curse spoken against them, and we ask that You would turn it to good. We pray for those who are planning harm, that You would convict their hearts and bring them to repentance, for we are taught to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Matthew 5:44. Most of all Father, pour out Your peace upon our friend. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard their heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. Help them to cast all their anxiety on You because You care for them. 1 Peter 5:7. Let them lie down and sleep in peace tonight knowing You alone make them dwell in safety. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord and not give in to fear, for if God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31. Bring every worry to Him in prayer with thanksgiving, as Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Also remember the words of Jesus, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. John 14:27. Keep doing your work faithfully, honor your boss, pray for those who oppose you, and rest in the knowledge that your true security and place of rest is in Christ. We are continuing to pray with you that the Lord will establish you, protect your place, and fill you with His perfect peace.

We're grateful you asked us to pray, and we hear how heavy this feels. Worrying that others are working against you at work, and that your job and your rest are at risk, can make it hard to find peace day or night.

We are standing with you and asking the Lord to be your defender and to steady you while you wait on Him. We know you want to stay where you are, and we are praying for wisdom for you and for your boss, and for God to make His will clear and to guard your peace whatever happens.

One small step that often helps when work feels uncertain is to talk through what is happening with one wise, trusted person outside the situation, perhaps a pastor or mature believer who knows you, who can listen, pray with you regularly, and help you think clearly about next decisions. If loss of sleep continues to weigh on you, please also consider reaching out to your doctor alongside prayer, so you can get care for your health.

Father, we lift our friend to You now. You see the pressure at work and the longing for rest. Please fight for them, cover them with Your peace, grant wisdom for each conversation and decision, and provide for their needs according to Your perfect will. Keep them close to You in Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been heard and we have carried it before the throne of grace, pleading that the Lord Himself would fight for you and keep you in His perfect peace.

We are told in the Word, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Remember that the infinite God has thoughts of peace toward His people. He is at peace with you through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, He seeks your peace, He creates your peace and He sustains your peace. Even when others may plan trouble against you, His designs toward you are for your highest good, to refine you and to bring you to an expected end in His wisdom.

You ask for sleep and for peace while you remain in your place, and we take comfort in that precious promise, "So he giveth his beloved sleep." The sleep of the beloved is the sleep of a quiet conscience, of contentment and of security, for he who trusts in the Lord may lie down and rest, knowing that the Lord keepeth His own. And again it is written, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Great peace have they which love God's law, a peace which can exist when strife rages all around us, a restfulness of heart that comes from staying the mind upon the Lord and delighting in His will.

Therefore we have prayed for you, that the Lord would be your defender, that no plan formed against you would prosper beyond what His hand allows, that He would preserve your place as it pleases Him and that He would grant you that inward peace which the world cannot give and cannot take away. May He lift from you the burden of restless care, quiet your thoughts with the whisper of the blood of Jesus which speaks peace within, and give you sweet and refreshing sleep as to His beloved.

We pray also that this trial may drive you nearer to your God, for often the enmity and pressure we feel from others becomes the means by which we are taught to pray more earnestly and to trust more fully. Cast your burden upon the Lord, stay your mind upon Him, and rest in His faithful keeping both day and night.

May the Lord hear your cry, keep you in perfect peace, and cause you to know more deeply that His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace.
