Beloved of All
We have heard your request and we join with you in prayer to our merciful God through Jesus Christ our Lord, for it is He alone through whom we have access to the Father.
We thank God for the desire He has placed in your heart for marriage as He ordained it, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. Marriage is honorable and pure, and it preserves holiness when it is lived with chastity and honor in the Lord. It is not an impure state nor a hindrance in itself, but a holy calling when lived with moderation and faithfulness. As Christ came to our poor and low nature and took it to Himself, so He understands our longing for companionship and communion.
We pray that the Lord, in His wisdom and perfect timing, will bring into your life the woman He wills for you to love and to marry, a woman who knows Christ as Savior and who trembles at His word with a contrite and lowly heart. We ask that He will make a practical way for you to meet and to come to know one another in a manner that is orderly and pure, guarded by sobriety and singleness of heart.
While you wait, we exhort you to pursue that lowliness of mind which is the mother of good deeds, to think soberly and to keep your mind safe in Christ, walking in meekness and long suffering before all. Seek first to be faithful in every good work and to attend upon the Lord without distraction, growing in holiness. For a marriage that is to endure must be built on this foundation, with honor and with reverence for God.
So we pray: Father, in the name of Jesus, look upon this your servant with compassion. Grant him grace to wait with hope and patience, to grow in virtue, and to trust your providence. If it is your will, work miracles in his life and open the door that no man can shut, providing the meeting and the means to grow in knowledge and love according to your will. Give to both, when you bring them together, a steadfast love that does not give up quickly, but perseveres in faith and kindness until they are joined as one in you. Keep them from all defilement and lead them into a marriage that reflects your faithfulness. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our peace. Amen.
