We have received your request and we thank you for sharing your desire with us. Your longing for marriage is good, for marriage is a bond ordained by God, and it is honorable when it is entered into according to His design.
We will pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father, and we do so with love. We pray that if it is the Lord's will for you to marry, He will in His wisdom provide a wife for you, a woman who shares faith in Christ and desires a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman as God made it from the beginning, when He made them male and female and said the two shall become one flesh.
We pray that God would make practical and orderly ways for you to meet and to get to know one another in a manner that is pure and reverent. Scripture teaches that holiness in this area means chaste and orderly living, that those who are unmarried remain pure and those who are married live faithfully with their own spouse, not permitting any defilement of the holiness that comes through faith. Marriage is honorable and pure, and it preserves holiness by guarding against fornication. For that reason we pray that your courtship would be marked by chasteness, gravity and order, with the presence and counsel of reverent brothers and sisters and family, and not by living together or sexual union before marriage, which belongs only within the covenant of marriage.
We also hear your prayer for a woman who will have genuine interest in knowing you and who will show faithful, committed love. We will pray that God brings you a woman of steadfast character who loves the Lord first, who will seek to know you truly and to build a faithful commitment with you that endures until you belong to one another in marriage. At the same time, just as one wise man has said that a man is matched with a woman by the Lord in the sense that God Himself made marriage, not that every union that happens is from God, we pray that you would both seek God's will above all, exercise self restraint and patience, and use this time of waiting to grow in purity and devotion to Christ. The profit of marriage is to preserve the body pure and to help one another in honor and holiness.
We pray for miracles in your life, not as demands upon God, but as humble requests for His mercy and power to work according to His good will. May He guide your steps, guard your heart from discouragement, keep you from using marriage ill or immoderately, and grant you contentment in Him while you wait.
We will continue to pray for you, that God would grant you wisdom, provide for your needs, keep you in the faith, and if He wills, lead you to the wife He has for you in His perfect time and way.
May the grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
