Pray for marriage

We join you in lifting up your marriage and your children before the Lord, and we rejoice with you in your desire for a strong, happy, intimate and close marriage that honors God, and for your children to know His peace and to grow in Christ.
We believe marriage is a holy covenant designed by God from the beginning, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. As it is written, Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh Genesis 2:24. And Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25. This love that reflects Christ's love is patient and kind, it bears all things and endures all things 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, and Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection Colossians 3:14. We thank God for your heart to seek closeness and intimacy in your marriage, for Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled Hebrews 13:4, and true intimacy flourishes when husband and wife are walking in unity, humility and forgiveness toward one another with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace Ephesians 4:2-3.
We also lift up your children with you, for Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward Psalm 127:3. We pray for the peace of God which surpasses all understanding to guard their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7, and that you will be strengthened to Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it Proverbs 22:6. We are encouraged that you desire not just happiness but growth in Christ, purpose and productivity for your whole family. We pray you will all grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 2 Peter 3:18, and that whatever you do, you will work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men Colossians 3:23, knowing that we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them Ephesians 2:10.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for the gift of marriage and for the precious lives of these children. Lord, we ask You to strengthen this marriage and make it strong and joyful and deeply intimate in a way that honors You. Knit husband and wife together as one, guard them from division and temptation, teach them to love and forgive quickly, to speak with grace and truth, and to cherish one another as Christ cherishes Your people. Let Your love abound more and more between them and overflow into their home.
Lord, we ask for Your peace to rest upon each child, calm every fear and anxiety, and draw each one closer to You. Help them to grow in Christ, to know Your Word, to find joy and purpose in You, and to bear fruit for Your glory. Pour out Your grace upon this whole family, that they may walk in Your favor, be productive in the good works You have prepared for them, and be filled with happiness that comes from abiding in You. Let love abound in this home and let Your name be glorified in all they do. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, Amen.

One thing we have found helps marriages grow in intimacy is making safety the foundation. When both husband and wife feel safe, cherished and heard, hearts naturally open to each other. When we feel unsafe, we tend to pull back. It can help to regularly check in with each other about that.
A simple step you might try this week is to set aside unhurried time together, just the two of you, and gently ask what helps each of you feel safe and loved, and what makes it harder to feel that way. We have carried your request to the throne of grace and have prayed with you for your marriage and your household.
We rejoice to hear your desire for a strong and happy and close union, for this is the very design of God in ordaining marriage. It is not a mere contract but a covenant wherein two become one, cemented by mutual love and by choice, and kept by grace. May the Lord make your marriage to be such, that you are kept in perfect peace because your minds are stayed upon Him, trusting in Him. That peace which Christ has purchased with His blood and which He gives as His own peace, not as the world gives, is the only true foundation for happiness and intimacy within the holy estate of matrimony. It is a present possession to be enjoyed in the ordinary circumstances of life, even when duties press and sorrows surge around.
We have prayed also for your children, that the God of peace would bless them with that same peace which passes all understanding. When family cares multiply, as they do with the coming of children, there is a promise that the Lord will bless His people with peace. May He keep your little ones in His keeping, and cause them to grow in Christ, rooted and built up in Him, that they may know joy and purpose and true productivity not from mere outward striving but from a renewed heart and reconciliation to God through Jesus Christ, for there is no other name whereby we can be saved and no other ground of peace worthy of the name.
Our prayer for you all is that grace may abound toward you, and that love may abound yet more and more, flowing as a river from the very throne of God. May the Holy Spirit, who is the author and founder of peace in the soul, work in each heart to make Christ Himself to be your peace, so that your home is filled with that filling peace which has no bottom nor shore.
We entreat the Lord to establish you, to keep you faithful to His purpose which cannot be turned aside, and to make your house to be a testimony of His goodness. May He grant you happiness and joy that are not a mere lull of stupefaction, but a well founded peace in believing, through the precious blood which has made full atonement.
We commend you and your beloved family to Him who is our peace, praying that He will keep you in perfect peace and cause you to go in peace, now and in the life to come, in Jesus name, Amen.
