We have heard your request and we want to bring it before the Lord together, but we must lovingly rebuke and correct some of what is expressed in it because it does not align with the heart of God or the truth of Scripture.
We must address the language and the attitude behind this prayer. To refer to others as retarded and colored in a demeaning way, and to speak of them with contempt, violates God's command to speak with grace and love. Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear, Ephesians 4:29. The Lord also calls us to put away arrogance and partiality, for if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors, James 2:9. Jealousy, arrogance, and pride are sins that God opposes in every person, regardless of background, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble, James 4:6.
We also must correct the idea that worth, beauty, or identity comes from having European ancestry or from looking European. This is not biblical. God made all people in His own image, God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them, Genesis 1:27. He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, Acts 17:26. There is no hierarchy of value based on ethnicity or skin color in the eyes of God, for there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus, Galatians 3:28, and God shows no partiality, Romans 2:11. In Christ, there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondservant, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all, Colossians 3:11.
The desire some may have to bleach their skin often comes from a deep wound of not feeling fearfully and wonderfully made, Psalm 139:14, or from pressure, jealousy, and comparison. But man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart, 1 Samuel 16:7. Our prayer should not be that people accept that they can never be European, but that every person would know they are fully loved and fully valued as they were created by God, and that their true identity is found not in ancestry but in Christ. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new, 2 Corinthians 5:17. The beauty God desires is not an outward standard but a transformed heart.
We also pray for anyone struggling with jealousy or arrogance, whether it leads to despising others or to despising oneself. Jealousy and arrogance are matters of the heart that the Lord wants to heal in all of us.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, and we ask You to forgive us for the ways we have judged others by outward appearance and ancestry, and for any pride or jealousy in our own hearts. Lord, we ask You to heal those who feel they are not enough as You made them, who feel pressure to change their skin or appearance to be valued. Help them to see they are fearfully and wonderfully made, Psalm 139:14, and that You have made every nation from one blood and You love each one. Take away jealousy, comparison, and self hatred, and give them confidence in Your love. Father, we also ask You to soften and transform any heart that looks down on others because of ethnicity or color, and to teach us to love as You love, for You desire a people from every nation, tribe, people, and language standing before Your throne, Revelation 7:9. Create in us clean hearts and help us to see others as You see them. We ask that You draw all of us closer to Jesus, in whom our true identity and worth are found, and help us to walk in humility, love, and unity. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
