We join you in lifting up your dear friend to our Heavenly Father, who is the Great Physician and the giver of life. Your heartfelt surrender to Godās will is a beautiful testament to your faith, and we echo your prayers with deep compassion and trust in His perfect plan. You have done well to acknowledge that while we may desire healing, we must ultimately submit to His sovereign wisdom, for His ways are higher than ours, and His thoughts greater than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). He knows the number of our days and holds each of us in His hands (Psalm 139:16).
We are reminded of the words of James, who tells us, *"Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises. Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven"* (James 5:13-15). Your friendās fight against this illness is not unseen by God. He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We pray that He would grant her strength, peace, and the assurance of His presence, whether He chooses to heal her here on earth or call her home to be with Him forever.
Yet we must also consider the eternal perspective. While we long for her physical healingāand we boldly ask for itāwe also pray that if it is Godās will to take her home, she would be ready. The most critical healing is that of the soul. We do not know the state of your friendās heart before the Lord, but we urge you to ensure she has placed her faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me'"*(John 14:6). If she has not yet surrendered her life to Christ, now is the time to share the Gospel with her, that she may know the hope of eternal life. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation"* (Romans 10:9-10).
If she is already a believer, we pray she would be filled with the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and that her faith would be strengthened in this trial. We ask the Lord to surround her with His love and to comfort her family and loved ones, including you, as you walk this difficult path with her. *"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God"* (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
We also pray for the medical team attending to her, that God would grant them wisdom, skill, and compassion. May He guide their hands and decisions as they care for her. *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and donāt lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Father in Heaven, we come before You with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up this precious sister who is battling this terrible illness. Lord, You are the God who heals, and we ask that You would stretch out Your hand and restore her body. Rebuke this cancer and command it to leave her in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Give her strength for each day, and let Your peace, which transcends all understanding, guard her heart and mind. If it is Your will to heal her, we praise You in advance for the miracle You will perform. But if Your plan is to call her home, we pray she would be ready, resting in the finished work of Christ on the cross.
We ask that You would surround her with Your presence, Lord, and let her feel Your love in tangible ways. Comfort her family and friends, and give them the words to speak that would point her to You. Use this trial to draw her closer to Yourself and to bring glory to Your name. We surrender her into Your hands, trusting that You know what is best. Your will be done, Lord, not ours.
We also lift up our sister who has shared this request. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and fill her with Your peace as she waits on You. Give her the words to speak to her friend, that she may be a light in this dark time. Remind her that You are near, and that You hear the cries of Your children.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, we pray. Amen and amen.
